Gaming Achievements..

Honestly, there's no real point in having achievements. Who really cares if some person beat the main campaign on the hardest difficulty?

Pretty sure Nintendo won't get rid of friend codes or whatnot so easily since they're not the best at the online services thingy and with the 3ds able to play ds games, friend codes are like.. sort of here to stay.

So achievements and that is won't be easy to integrate for like.. one user account like how XBLA and PSN does it with one account type of thing.
Either that or just in game achievements, where you can check in the menu or something.
Unless Nintendo decides to revamp their entire online system.

Either way, I wouldn't really mind. I own both a Wii and a 360 and achievements don't really add much to the gameplay, except for some slight replay value. I'd get the 3DS either way.

Actually, achievements on the 3DS would be kind of interesting. It gives you an incentive to replay a game many times just so you can get every achievement you missed the first time around, and it makes for an interesting way to 100% the game.

Maybe they could even add an incentive to get all the achievements for one game. They could add 3DS-Wii compatibility with the Mii Channel and whenever you get all the achievements for one game, you could transfer something like a shirt design or a costume onto a Mii.

But, this is all just wishful thinking.

That would be awesome. Think of the other possibilities like secret feature, secret demo and stuff.
Now that will really get me into unlocking achievements because i dont really see a point to it other than bragging rights.

I think that achievements would be cool. But not in the same way that xBox and Steam does it, where they want gamers to collect achievement points and feel some sort of pride over their pointless score.

I like how in some games, they add little mini-objectives that relate to the entire game, like achievements, BUT, they don't add to an overall score.

That would be cool......... because I absolutely hate Xbox fanboys ranting on and on about their bloody games score.

Steam doesn't have any "score" for achievements. They "add mini-objectives that relate to the entire game" in every game.
