That's about as likely as the chance of being banned from WFC on the Nintendo DS for using a flash cart.

And if it's suppose to happen, I'm still waiting!!!

...still waiting.

.............still waiting...

Okay first of all if you have the homebrew channel installed, UNINSTALL IT, as of now that is a death trap for your wii. Most likely the mod chips will begin to fail with the next wii system update. Who knows what nintendo will do, but if you must try this then you should wait till something more reliable is out.
QUOTE(sjones900 @ May 28 2008, 12:52 AM) ok let this be a source just like the xbox nintendo can easily scan for legitimate and illegitament software installed on to peoples wiis and either force them to remove it or ban them from wiiconnect24
I fail to see where that "source" contains information that it will likely be within the next system update as you have previously stated? Common sense is not a source.

Oh, and to add to that, if you care to do JUST A LITTLE FUCKING RESEARCH you would actually find a bit of credible evidence that just partially aides your senseless banter. Go ahead and take a look. Hint, my earlier post deals with the topic.

Now I do not wish to waste anymore time on a boy crying wolf. Good day, sir.

sigh.....i mean being able to download from the wii shop or play online obviously this wouldn't effect some one without internet

well one thing for sure some homebrew channels defintely will not be safe to be used on your wii because they might be wii viruses and could seriously screw something up.

Listen 15 year old child. You obviously do not understand the way the Wii works with homebrew. I would suggest you do a little research before posting a topic like this. It's not that your views don't count, it's the way you project yourself as all knowing when you obviously don't know anything. You make it so obvious you are just spewing crap, that nobody is listening to anything you say and the people who are listening, don;t understand that your a dumbass kid who doesn't know more then what the Wii User Manual has told you and just assume everything anyone says on the Hacking forum is the gods honest truth. As a homebrew developer, I am not going to say it is 100% safe to run unsigned code on the Wii. I am however going to say that the types of things you are talking about are not the types of things people need to be worried about. The Wii is not a computer. Do you know how much effort it would take to code a virus for the Wii that would actually harm the system? How many viruses have been made for all the systems that have ever run homebrew? How many modchips have bricked systems due to an update from the manufacturer? Can you answer any of these questions with valid answers? If you can't then maybe you should rethink your post. Systems that have been heavy in the homebrew homebrew in the scene that nothing ever happened to:
PS2
PSP
Xbox
Xbox 360
Dreamcast
Gameboy Advance
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Gamecube
Nintendo Wii
The best example there being the PSP. Years after the PSP was hacked we still don't have a an update from Sony that bricks your PSP and they release updates every couple months (or faster sometimes). Now if you don't think you deserve to be flamed for your post, maybe you should look back at the contriversy surrounding your post. You came into the Wii Hacking forums and started telling people to stop hacking their Wii's. Doesn't make much sense. That's like running into a church and telling everyone to stop believing in God. You might get a few people to agree to it but your probably going to get told to go screw yourself, and you need to be willing to accept that.

And for the record, nobody has been banned as to this date.
* Edit - I feel this thread deserves to be moved, or deleted it serves no purpose in the Wii-Hacking thread. Maybe general thread but paranoid ramblings about how Wii Homebrew might kill your Wii is not a hacking question or a legitimate topic.

A reformat resets everything.

If you get banned you can just reformat and get wireless services back....even though they are kinda lack luster at the moment.

ok what the b\s

why isnt this thread closed yet

well for the noob OP whom i think just wanted to get his\her post up or to get known here,WTF i demand you to post a vid on youtube thet a wii with the HBC has blown up because the user updated

ok then lets startv new with not so much crap and I want to hear what you think nintendo will do about homebrewing on the wii so people will know what to believe

Well, first off, formatting wouldn't change your MAC address (which is what they would ban, not your friend codes), as that's tied into the hardware, not the software. Granted that's assuming Nintendo would ban anybody. Which they haven't. Ever.

Piracy kinda killed it, ya know.

e: Shit.... WHY DO THEY NOT AUTO-MERGE?

wii virus?

homebrew brick a wii?

all nonsense

do you really think a developer will waste time to be "the first to create a virus for the wii"
and they will not also distribute programs that have the potential to brick your wii, just like jayparadox who uses a dvd first before making a wad

you want to know what could brick a wii?

a stupid noob who post stupid questions and cliamings with nothing to back it up who doesnt RTFM,and doesnt research

for the record this isnt directly towards you but to all who feels they fit the description

read my last post and an sd card seriously screwed up someones wii why not random coding into a wad i'm sure that will do the wii plenty good

what nintendo will do to the homebrew community is nothing unless they see that it is affecting their sells

by which time they will issue an update ,not everyone will update just those who are (refer to my above post) by which time someone will post here that a new update is killing wiis then obviously no one will ever update again until custom firmware

that s why you have to research what homebrew program is trusted already

plus the sd card that killed someones wii ,well since it already killed his wii and hasnt even had a chance to run an unsigned code

id say that was a hardware problem 'not because homebrew

wii custom firmwre? I don't think so but the only way that would be possible if somehow you would be able to intercept a wii update and then find out how to decrypt it I don't think any1 would want to waste time on this

Requesting - move to testing area.

Anyone seen the movie Idiocracy?
This guy reminds me of one of the people from the future XD

Read our posts kid.

We don't give a damn. Plain and simple, we like our wiis the way they are, homebrew intact. We don't care about these NON-EXISTANT "consequences." You have to be retarded to download a bad file and brick your wii that way. I mean seriously mentally deficient. There is no way anyone with 1/2 a brain will do that.

Of course, since you are just a troll, pm me and I'll link you to a few hentai sites. Your time would be better spent tagging off than boring us with your foolishness.

Peace, my brothers.

P.S. Replaying GTA LCS on my PSP with the Vertical camera view! Feels just like GTA 1 + 2 LOL~ Like a completely new and awesome game!

EDIT: FUCKING LOL! This kid is now arguing against the wii getting a custom firmware? WOW! I find it incredibly hard to not flame his ass all the way to hell....

Wow. I thought GBATempers were a bit smarter than this. It's trolling and many are taking the bait. Good old sjones900 keeps dropping back in and re-baiting to get more replies. Just let it die and add another entry to your 'ignore user' list.

updates are just wads

which are easily unpacked now i think

also maybe so no one wants to waste time on it now

trust me when what you are saying is going to come true

then you just contradicted your own post

plus didnt bushing grabbed the new online update to fix semi bricked wii?

you know i only usually flame people for not using the search button and google and repeaing the same question every time

but congratulations you made me flame 6 times in a thread

I guess I really don't have the speaking skills for this shit any way but you gotta learn somehow thats why i'm starting the thread over in a sense

A Wii trojan is entirely possible. I know you guys want to flame and all but don't be ridiculous. It's a lot easier on the Wii than, say. the DS, and that happened. I would not at all be surprised to see one within the Wii's lifetime. It's almost a blessing that ability to write to NAND is only in the hands on an elite few.
