The HBL channel must be launched while CFW is enabled, presumably due to certificate-related stuff. I don't have a DS VC game, so it'd be quicker to just launch HBL then to launch mocha. But, after backing up my physical copy of New SUPER LUIGI U, the backup played on the system with no CFW Running, I realized this must be a certificate thing. Would copying the title.cert, title.tlk, and title.tmd (if I need to) from my NSLU backup, and using those instead of the certificate files the HBL channel comes with (If these even are certificates) with the Launcher install, would the HBL Channel run without CFW? I ask because a bad WUP install can brick your device.

That won't work. Each game/app has its own cert, tik, tmd and you can't use them interchangeably.

Just buy a ds vc, it is only 10 bucks

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume the reason that won't work (among other reasons) is because the hash won't match when you attempt to transplant those files to the Homebrew Launcher Channel. They will only work with the game you ripped them from.

If you're going to use Mocha CFW, you have to run the browser exploit first. In my opinion, that's just fine, and the money required for Haxchi isn't worth it.

Yeah, it's not even like 3DS where it was pretty annoying having to go the slow browser but with Wii U the browser loads pretty fast. And the exploit isn't hard to use.

Is specifically a thing of not having proper permissions, not certificates. CFW removes restrictions that require advance admin like usage to the system. Installing a game from something other than eshop will require those restrictions to be removed, which is what cfw does, so you may run the game. Without CFW you can't play the game and the file is just baggage.

Think about it as admin status on windows PC or rooting android phone, some things cannot be done, cause of not enough permissions, so rooting the android, or using admin status on pc or having CFW remove the restrictions to be used as pleased. If you want to use homebrew loader channel but don't have hax chi, just load the exploit on web browser (Most people use loadiine.ovh) then use the mocha cfw button or homebrew loader button and then load mocha cfw. You can then run hbl like normal. :P

You don't need CFW to install and play most pirated Wii U games.

Well no, not with loadiine i guess, or some other method i dunno about. :P
I'm not talking about Loadiine. Using the Brazilian method, one can install most Wii U games to a USB drive or the internal drive without CFW.

Edit: To be clear, CFW is only good for illegitimate tiles (the Homebrew Launcher Channel), vWii games, Virtual Console games, eShop-only games, and games with pirated DLC.

Well i didn't know that such a thing exist. I am not used to hearing about brazilian method. From what i learn there is a pc app on windows that can download the files from nintendo and installed with wiiu usb package installer. So if it can play games without even loading cfw then cool, i probably should have learned that in the tutorial i was reading about, but i didn't want a brick risk.

What you're describing is using the Brazilian method, except in the cases I listed that require CFW. CFW is for installing illegitimate tiles (the Homebrew Launcher Channel), vWii games, Virtual Console games, eShop-only games, and games with pirated DLC.
