A good anti-virus...

I'm looking for a free anti-virus program which has the usual features; scan on demand, auto-updating, etc.

It has to not take up more than 10 mb of ram, because AVG 8 is a complete RAM hog... it makes my computer run slow

The less CPU and RAM it takes up, the better!

http://www.spywareterminator.com/ it has an option in it to integrate winclamav.

It works quite well, protects the PC for virtually all malware, be it viral or spyware.

Common Sense 2009 is great, takes up about 0% of my cpu's cycles.

AVG Anti Virus is free and it works pretty well. It does get false-positives occasionally. Not sure how big it is though.

i second avast! It has sniffed out many viruses and trojans. It actually got rid of the stupid virus that kept adding itself to flash drives

I was so happy when it got rid of it. It is free just register it to your email and they send you a registration code that lasts you about a year. It automatically updates the virus database and it can run a boot scan so those pesky autorun viruses that attach themselves to explorer.exe get removed! You cant go wrong

Yep NOD32 is the best i've used. I've tried norton (so horrible) and AVG but they can't compare.

I had AVG and always got some false positive virus so I change it to Nod32 and I am happy with it. It's great and read at google.com for best program and Nod32 is one of them.

I don't recommend ClamWin, as although it is fast and has a low memory footprint, it seems to have a very small database.

I used Avira (free) for many years, but few weeks ago it didn't detect anything when my system files were deleted every days one by one.

I reinstalled and I'm now trying NOD32 trial version.
some people here said to use a fix, so I installed one, but right after that, I kept getting Kernel32 error every minutes or two.

I removed the fix, and it is now working great.
it sometime still crash because of kernel32, but NOD never close itself in the tray, the service run again automatically.

I didn't use it long enough to tell if it is very good or not, but I like having many options to choose manually

for information, my NOD32 is using 38Mo of Ram.
I don't know if there are any antivirus with 10Mo.
