Emulation A 32mb Leafgreen Rom and a 64kb SAV file-What?

Ok, so bear with me here. I followed this tutorial on how to transfer my Leafgreen Cart Save with my R4 GBA save backup program to PC, like in the video



The game works fine, and my save file finally loads. Originally, I couldn't load up my savefile on a normal rom, like the person in the video said, so I had to also backup my own legit cart ROM via program. I didn't find out until later that the ROM isn't supposed to be twice as big, and save file twice as small, until I tried saving, and the game locked up. I thought it was the gameshark codes I used at first(no matter how minute), but I started up the game and saved right away, still locked up.

I am going to keep trying and messing around with this for a little while, but for VBA and GBA rom emulation experts out there, what should I do? I am only trying to get the navel rock and Birth Island Event to work right, then transfer my save back to my cart so I can do everything on my DS lite. Why is it so hard? Ideally, since my backed up ROM is fucked, I am assuming, how would I load my save file on to a normal ROM? Really any help is appreciated. Happy new year, By the way.

are you positive its a real game?
sounds like you might have a fake

It works perfectly both on the real hardware and emulation, plus I already finished the whole game with no hiccups. It's a real game alright, it might be an error with the GBA backup software tho, I would appreciate it if anyone with a R4 card and a GBA pokemon game could back me up on this


EDIT: So I checked my GBA backup program again, and the rom IS supposed to be 32mb big, and the saves are 128mb big, so nothing wrong on the software side.

My Leafgreen copy looks like the fake one given, the E on ESRB thing isn't big enough, for example, but the game works flawlessly so far, so I am not complaining.


But I guess that does pose a problem for my game save, doesn't it? It seems that only my(Flawed) ROM can use it, and I cannot save the game on my emulator. I will try other methods and programs, suggestions still welcome
