Hello everyone. Long time lurker/leecher of the forums, first time poster. I appreciate any help you fine people can give me.

So anyway, I have purchased a 2DS today and will have it in a couple days. Unfortunately, it will be coming with the last firmware update of 9.5. I have been trying to decide which flash cart to get and was pretty much set on getting a Gateway 3ds. But with this new firmware update, I'm confused as to which one to get. I saw the big argument earlier in the thread, but I need an honest unbiased opinion. I know GW has more features but is it still working with a freshly updated virgin 2DS console? Please help me out here, guys. Thanks.
Your only option is Sky3DS. Gateway does not support 9.3 and higher.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Sky3DS supports the 2DS. I don't imagine why it wouldn't, since it just spoofs a real cart.

Just the facts. Gateway cannot work on higher that 9.2 so your only choice is sky or clones. If you want gateway you will need to get a 9.2 system or below.

I don't mind using Sky. I'd take actual 3ds game support over the extra features anyway. So, with a virgin console 9.5 firmware, I'll have no problem setting up a Sky card? Also, does it have multirom support?

Can't get the site to load, but the reseller websites say it does support it. Just to make sure, Sky3ds card will work on my 9.5 system, right? I just don't want to waste $70 on something I can't use.

Yes, Sky3DS is working on 9.5. It is multiROM.

Um, wasn't it like that when the Gateway first came out? That there would be no "in the future" or "right now" on their announcements for support on later firmwares and that it only works for 4.1-4.5.

Nope, a lot of people as far as I remember were disappointed that they didn't support multi-rom, so they made sure to add "right now" or something like that.

Since this thread suddenly became silent for hours and nobody's mentioned it, Gateway's already released their 9.5 update. (Take that, whoever said GW was dead, etc.)

Uhhhh, Nintendo blocked 9.5 emunand on the New 3DS with new encryption :/
I'm aware. What you haven't explained is how that makes Gateway "dead." 9.5 adds no new features, and anybody with a Gateway on 9.0 - 9.4 still has full functionality.

Always just a matter of time until they figure out how to get past the next hurdle, too. 9.5 on the N3DS will probably have emuNAND within a few months of N3DS support.

Like I said, it's dead for the N3DS because N3DS can't do a system transfer and they can't play online or access the eshop while on 9.4

Funny how the Sky3DS is so easy to bash because it's going to be "blocked" soon but when the GW gets blocked effectively on the N3DS

"it's not dead"

"wth are you talking about"

My god this community is toxic.

No, you're simply ill-informed. You can play games online on 9.4. The only thing you cannot do is download updates through the eShop, but those can be installed as .CIA files instead.

So yeah, system transfers can't be done. That's about all.

You're still evading the fact that Nintendo blocked the Gateway card...There's gonna be a time where Nintendo mandates the update to 9.5 in their N3DS manufacturing plants and forces online to a minimum of 9.5. It's going to be dead as soon as both of these things happen - for the N3DS at least.

Nintendo did not take specific action to stop the Gateway from functioning. It's just a matter of having more time to look into the code.

Nintendo is extremely unlikely to do either of those things you mentioned.

You're telling me they just threw in some encryption just for fun? They obviously knew it would block the Gateway on the N3DS

Wow, this guy. Of course the Gateway card doesn't work normally no matter what firmware your 3DS is on. That's why there's a thing called "EmuNAND". Plus, Gateway still didn't release their New3DS support update yet.

Edit: Again, Gateway already explained that the new 9.5 update for New3DS is not a "definitive barrier". So it'll only be a matter of time before they can break through it.
