Archive Entertainment announced 8BitMMO today, an indie construction sandbox game written using Java.

Players can build houses, castles and even entire cities either alone or with a group. A grief protection system is in place to prevent constructions from unwanted interference. Up to 250 players can participate in a persistent streaming world. Rudimentary PvP and PvE are there, as well as host of amusing quests and unusual enemies.

I mean that may seem nitpicky, but that's like Pokemon being advertised as an FPS to appeal to the FPS audience.
