1) Super Castlevania Four: Can't make it past stage 3. The jumping puzzles are pretty brutal, but I've missed this growing up - I hated creepy games and Super Ghouls and Ghosts turned me off of "haunted house" games. This is less brutal than the Gameboy Castlevanias which still annoy the frack out of me, but it still relies on a lot of memorization to save your butt. I like it still, the music is pretty sharp and gorgeous for it's day on the SNES.
2) Brain Lord: An RPG that Enix put out before they merged with Square to become the JRPG titan that we know today. I liked RPGs before getting my hands on this, but it's not a very hard game. It's kind of bland, but it's an RPG, right?
3) Mortal Kombat 2: The reason I bought a SNES in the good old days. I came late to the Mortal Kombat party, having entered the series with Ultimate MK3, but this is the definate winner in terms of fidelity with arcade to home console. Still very hard, but I've always preferred Shang Tsung, Baraka, Sub-Zero and Scorpion. It's a good party game as well - barring the fact that anyone with fighting game experience will kill anyone who does not.
4) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: It's an RPG for people who don't like RPGs. It's kind of actiony - reminds me of Pokemon in a way. You can be lazy and just control the main character, but I find the annoying fact that your magic users/partners can use up your supplies of cure potions in battle. It's okay, but I'm half-way to the big bad - not really a game to last. Will probably trade it in for Earthbound soon. (Once I get paid....
) The music is pretty awesome, and the fact that you can see random battles before they happen is good. Could have been legendary like Earthbound with the possible influence of humor and randomness, but seriously not that good.
5) Nosferatu: Prince of Persia mixed with Castlevania. I only bought this so that I could say I've beat a Prince of Persia clone. I looked at the walkthrough on youtube, and the last boss is, well, not very epic, but I like the idea of beating up magical creatures with your bare fists. Take that, Simon Belmont!
6) Doom: The 1st episode of Doom. I wanted this when it 1st came out so badly, but my mother didn't want me to get it. It's not that violent now, but it's kind of amazing that playing this didn't give me a headache. I had it on PC before, but I never got that far - I like the idea of Doom on a console although.
I'd continue to update my quests to master these 6 games during Winter Break.
Wish me loads of luck!
