Hacking 6.20 PRO_B10 issue

I was pretty grumpy and I apologize for that, but what the heck was with that last post? Do you think I wouldn't have noticed something like that when I was being careful with my new system? My experience was earlier than that, and since my attempt the guide I used was edited to include the PROUPDATE GOES FIRST step. Of course we have that link now so all the better for new users.

Anyways, as I said before, the guides are there for you. They didn't have to exist at all for you. Rydian dedicated his time to help others, and that's what he gets? Just because some people failed to follow it? Besides, you could've pryed a little further and see other guides as reference for confirmation. That's what I did, and it worked fine.

zygie's post mentioned Rydian's guide as helpful and that you weren't supposed to run the perma patch right away, so that was clearly a reply to me. The post you made afterwards may have been to zygie, but I guess there was some misunderstanding between both of us. Oops.

But basically, I'm just upset that certain critical steps weren't present at the time. I got quite a bit of info here when I was using a DS flashcart. This site and its users, it's all a great help, really.

Not anywhere in Rydian's guide (which I followed to the letter for my brand new Go a few months back) does it say use 620PRO_Permanent before PROUPDATE. You must've followed something else to the letter.

In any case, everything's pretty self-explanatory and I never had to ask about the installation.

"Run the 6.20 PRO Updater on your PSP and when it runs press X to install and launch the temporary 6.20 hack.
After the PSP restarts, run the 6.20 PRO Permanent Patch."

The guide says 'After', which is a clear indication that you're supposed to do something before installing the 6.20 pro perma patch. You could've just read the sentence above it.

Did your school teach you to read books from the bottom upwards? If not, you're supposed to know that people are supposed read stuff from top downwards. It's your problem that you couldn't read the guide top downwards.

Just saying but even if it did not say to run the perm patch after the proupdate thing, it's pretty frickin' obvious that you need to install the proupdate first cause y'know there's nothing to patch without it >_>

I've never even heard of that game, so how can I help? What, should I download an entire game and try it out to see what's up with it? I have better things to do with my bandwidth.

A Perm Patch for CFW Perm Patches a CFW, that goes without saying, really. You can't patch a CFW before you install it.

The test is highly recommended in the PROUpdater itself, you can't hold other people liable for the fact that you don't give a flying F and you just jam the OKAY buttons to "get it over with".

Actually the updater changes the buttons on that prompt, so the "okay" button is actually the "cancel" button to avoid people buttom-spamming their way into a brick.

That means it's a higher level of ignorance not to read a warning even though you clearly "pause" button mashing at this point of the installation.

Well I'm not saying that, the test runs a temporary copy of the vsh main file, I'm not sure if it's functional when not having done an install, I never tried that.

If a reason that I had to go through the temporary CFW solution when I wanted the permanent solution was listed, I would've read through them, no problem. And this was a brand new (or maybe not, I got it at GameStop and it came with 6.20 OFW so the newness is up in the air) PSP Go that I had, and I didn't want to break anything, so I had every intention of playing it safe, gong slowly and triple checking everything. I'm not a complete idiot. The perma patch couldn't be used anyway, I eventually had to cave and try the temp solution which solved everything. Now I'm done explaining that situation, I didn't get enough info but figured it out anyway. And I also prefer to be done with the whole "you oughta" thing, so please, let's move on.
