Does anyone use 4K(or higher) resolutions while gaming? Do you think 4k will be mainstream this generation?

Considering that 4K monitors/TVs are still too expensive to be worth it, and computer hardware isn't really strong enough yet to support it with "max" settings, I think it's too early.
Also, define "this generation".

I define this "Generation" by the software used to make it, Unreal Engine 4, Cryengine 3. They support 4k, but that's not really a selling point.

I don't have a 4k monitor but I supersampled the resolution to 4k on pvz garden warfare just to see how it looks. Runs pretty good on a 290 tri x actually.

Frankly 4K isn't practical yet, but I imagine 4K will be widely in use by Christmas 2015.

End of the year? Just depends i personally havent seen a 4k tv of reasonable size under 1000$ plus i feel 4k will need more purposes than gaming before wide mainstream acceptance

Normal computer stuff. I like the screen real estate over 1080p. It's really useful for programming also. The input lag is also a lot more noticeable on 4K right now so it isn't optimal for shooters.

Do you think it is because of the gpu or because of lack of 4k support?

I do 3K on games that aren't demanding, like South Park or other mostly 2D games. (My monitor is 3K.)

I know but i feel cost needs to go down beford wide mainstream adoption which i doubt will happen this year but i can happen.....

You'd be surprised how much prices can drop with this type of tech. hell, people said the same thing about 1080p but that went mainstream within a year for sure.
