So, I just bought a PCIe 1x USB 3.0 card from DinoDirect. Thing is pretty awesome.

Link: http://www.dinodirect.com/pci-e-card-low-p...rt-usb-3-0.html

Goes in the PCI slot on my pc, powered with a 4 pin Molex connector. Gonna be useful because I didn't have any other 3.0 ports, so as it becomes the standard and more wide-spread this will be a very useful add-in card. Gonna need some time to actually use it for a bit until I can give a full review, but I am liking it already. Within the next few days I am gonna re-copy my whole Wii library to my Seagate GoFlex over the USB 3.0 cable since I can use it now, and see how long that takes (will do it a few times) as opposed to USB 2.0.

Anyway, tempers, given my work and family schedule, I will get a good, in-depth review of this up asap. Honestly I haven't even seen them in retail stores (was looking at PCI cards in BestBuy, looking for a wireless NIC but seems everyone went USB now

) but I am surprised this was as cheap as it is (was expecting cards to be more along the 60 dollar range for a 3.0 add-in)

its made in china, cheaply manufactured, unreliable parts, and no company backing it up if it breaks
its not that surprising

Yeah I suppose thats true, but tbqh I have had pretty good luck with China-based no-name products (for the most part). Only things I have really had trouble with were multiple memory card readers from DX. But, they're the .98 to 1.50 ones... cant be too shocked about that.

Edit

That's PCI-e x1 and not PCI right?

Yeah, they are, my bad. I wrote this at what, I think 2:00 AM (ish) so I was very tired... I don't even have the time zone set for gbatemp (need to fix that now)

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
