Hacking 3DS xl

So I was considering getting the 3DS xl, and I have an acekard 2i.
Will the current version of the acekard 2i firmware work with the 3DS xl's
default firmare version when buying it new?

Also, how does updating work on the 3DS?
(I ask so I can avoid updating it, if possible.)

Correct. Nothing plays 3ds roms atm.

It will work on the default factory firmware but DO NOT UPDATE IT cause it wont then.
And yeah no flashcard runs 3DS Roms
