Is there really no way at the moment to use compression so:
1) The filesize is smaller

or

is there really no way to convert quicker?

By the way, awesome work SifJar and Spinal. :)

EDIT: Oh, and SifJar, don't do it if it's too much work, or anything, but is it possible to have multiple files being converted at the same time? I.e a batch?

Can I make a suggestion. Is there any way of putting in a way to amplify the audio? I ask as I have been using another program to get the audio amplified.

At this point, considering other options are starting to appear etc., I probably won't be adding more stuff to it. Sorry :( I might try and add some stuff, but batch conversion would probably require quite a lot of work, and considering I don't even have a 3DS so can't make use of this myself, I really don't want to invest too much time into it.

The compression/quality is based on the format that is used. As of now, the only format supported is what the Camera app uses for recording, which is Motion JPEG + ADPCM audio. Nintendo never intended this app to work beyond viewing what it records itself, so chances of other formats for better compression/quality being supported is non-existent.

Kay, no matter what I do, it doesn't even show up on the 3DS. I renamed it to HNI_0060 as well. It doesn't work. :/

Try chatting up the budgie on the gallery screen a few times and eventually the 3DS will update its management file, then the videos should show up.
It DID update the management file, but, it still didn't show up. ;/

EDIT: NEVERMIND! It DID work, it was under a different date because of the recording date maybe? Anyway, thanks!!!! :D

I feel i should contribute in some way so here is my confirmation that this program works.
This file is the "first person mario" video on youtube that i downloaded in 3d. after converting it and puting it on my 3ds it worked.
here is the file fully converted, all you have to do i rename it.

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:2067]

as expected it didnt work. If anyone wants to tell me how to upload videos then please do. if not, then oh well, I tried.

You need to resize and re-encode the file. Grab ffmpeg and use this command:
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -qscale 1 -s 400x240 -vcodec mjpeg -acodec adpcm_ima_wav -r 24 -async 12 -ar 44100 -ac 2 -y -map 0.0 -map 0.1 -map 0.2 VID_0001.avi
