Hardware 3ds power button problem

Here is a great link here that tells you how to "cure" the problems with the power button DIY-style. You will need a new power button though, to attempt this dismantle and reassembly. Enjoy :D

***Quick Question*** Is Nintendo able to tweak their software for sensitivity, in regards to the power button??

when i want to turn off the 3ds, i HOLD the power button, shows the black power off screen and i continue to hold, it' turns off in about 5 seconds.

are some people pressing the button once, seeing the black screen then pressing the power a second time to turn off the system?

No its just when you aren't using a 3DS-specific title, it will freeze up then shut down after a bit whereas 3DS titles show the power off screen.

The problem being discussed here is turning the 3ds on. Most people need about 2-3 presses to boot the system up after it's been resting for a day or so.

I do have to say the Mario update may have fixed things, but I need to test more to be sure...

From what I can tell, the button has some sort of delay. You know, if you press it too many times too quickly, it won't register the presses. It seems you just have to slowly hold it for a second and wait, then hold it again to turn it off etc. Either that or it's a piece of crap, and given Nintendo's track record lately, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter.

Does anybody notice a difference since firm 3.0.0-5 in regards to this problem? So far my 3DS's have been firing up on the first press -- although the last update turned out to be false hope. So is this update probably.

Anybody?

What I don't understand is how the DSiXL was made without wobbly parts, but the 3DS brought them all back to the consoles... Meh :(

yup the update has fixed the issue for me, or at least seems to have (no multiple presses needed after a day+ of it being off). some people may have genuine hardware issues, although this has to be very few. the power button response issues have been a software/firmware problem.

The annoying double/triple press power-up seems to be fixed with the newest update for me as well. I'll hafta check again after my 3ds has been off for a day or three.
