2. Look it up? If it exists look for it on freeShop or find a cia to install.

1. For long time, especially in the early days of the 3DS hacking scene, you needed a payload along with the Homebrew Launcher in order for the hacking to work.

You don't need the homebrew launcher at all for B9S (except to install it on firmwares up to 11.3) so there's no payload to worry about.

So I bought a 2nd hand N3DS XL with cfw installed with it. The problem is even the seller doesn't know what cfw is installed...
It currently runs on 11.9, it can boot without the sd card, and pressing select on boot does nothing and boots normally... Can anyone help me to identify which cfw is installed and how can I update it to b9s?? I've attached the sceenshot of the SD card for info...

Try putting arm9loaderhax.bin from Luma 7.0.5 on the SD card and see if you manage to get something to show when you hold Select on boot. If not, have a look in CTR NAND in FBI and see what files are there and report back.

That's weird, and it boots up without the SD card in? I don't know anything about shadownand which is what I think you have, try reading the thread to see how you can get rid of it and move to normal Luma: https://gbatemp.net/threads/shadownand.431718/

Can i just online-upgrade my Emunand to the latest Firmware? Do i even need/should (Game Updates and stuff).

Can I still use a Four Swords game even though it was already used when doing DSiWarehax once? I used it to hack a O3DS to 2DS, and then I loaded a backup of sysNAND when it got formatted so I still have the game. I’m trying to hack a N3DS.

Do I also need a NNID?

It counts as a pirated copy, it won't move when you transfer (unless the console you're talking about was the target).

Is it running A9LH or menuhax? If A9LH, follow https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s and if menuhax, then uninstall menuhax (boot to sysNAND, change the theme), then follow https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)

In both cases you should later follow https://3ds.guide/move-emunand to get rid of your emuNAND (will only cause you problems and not help anything) then follow https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup to get all the latest homebrew.

I don't think Cakes is compatible with the latest firmware version.
