No - if you go online with both at the same time they will be banned. Better to format one or other at some point. (Or just don't restore the source console)

With the system transfer, you can't link the source console to your NNID anymore.

So after formatting the system memory, the source console will still be modded but will have a new nnid?

Download the starter kit from https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax) and put it on your SD card (the boot.3dsx file, overwriting the old one, and the 3ds folder, merging with the one you have) and new homebrew launcher loader from https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup (install it).

So, I’ve got a N3DS. I had cleaned off any homebrew stuff just to get ready to install Luma. (already have Luma set up on my 3DSXL) Hadn’t installed it on my N3DS yet. I was gone for the weekend & my idiot younger brother updated my N3DS to 11.4.0-37U. Are there any exploits that still work with 11.4?

You can use your 3DS XL to install CFW. Have a look at https://3ds.guide for how to do it. Note that if both consoles have NNIDs they will get stuck together permanently (unless you call Nintendo and they agree to move one to the other console).

Wait, I'm sorry. I already have Luma 8 installed on my 3DSXL w/10.6.0-31U. How does already have CFW installed on the 3DSXL somehow get me to a point to install it on my N3DS?

Read the guide.

Number 1 requires that the source already bought one of the games on the list, Number 2 lets you buy nearly any DSiWare game.

Ah, yeah. Would like to try and avoid doing a system transfer as all of my games and stuff are on the N3DS. The 3DSXL was just for messing around. I'll look into that part of the guide more. Thanks!

If you get a spare N3DS you can transfer to that first, wait a week, then transfer from the old 3DS, install CFW, then wait another week, and transfer back from the spare N3DS.

If you buy it brand new it'll not come with 11.4 so you're safe. 11.3 and below are hackable

So, I finally got around to buying a New 3DS XL.

What's the cheapest/easiest way to play DS ROMs on it? I'm not so bothered about 3DS games just now. I've got a huge library of DS games and I've got an Acekard 2i that I used on my old DS. I suppose I'm just spoiled these days and only want to carry one cart around with me. :)

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
