Just a thought for anyone capable of abusing this idea: is it likely that we can use the photo album or music loading from sd card to find a break like was done with smash stack?

We've discussed this in the update thread (about how someone was nice enough to figure out how the 3DS updates), and we know that we can achieve this (theoretically) if we knew how to use mpo, mp3, and jpg to our advantage, but we'd need to know how the 3DS reads said files, and Ninty would fix said exploits in a week's time, and once it's fixed, I'd have just bought a 3DS.

Hello this is my first time posting on this site but have come here for a while when searching for answers

Since the midnight release of the 3ds i have been using my R4i DSN and have updated with card in system with no problems.
Anyways was reading this thread and made me want to post something,
Nintendo CAN NOT remotely brick your system its illegal in the US
smile.gif

The whole sony thing isnt the first time a video game company has tried to sue or take people to court over modding, its not illegal, it is illegal to own ROMs that you do not own the original too or as in example with music you have paid for the mp3 (ROM in this case
smile.gif
). Once you buy something your free to do what you want with it. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony,(fill in the company of choice) can however blacklist your serial stop u from recieving updates and taking advantage of any new features or any services they offer. And as far as usage recordings, no one ones any retail copies at all lol. But again, remote bricking no not gonna happen, 3ds will end up like the Wii, udating changes the IOS and your cIOS dont work gotta go find the latest work around blah blah blah, but in the end all us cheaters can still cheat nintendo lol

well gotta say i love this site, always find the answer i need

But I'm not in the US. And so are others, we're not all in the States.

Also, Nintendo can brick you, as you're just renting their console for an indefinite amount of time, which can be changed by Nintendo. Of course, that's a controversial issue, and I'm not too sure on legality of that, but that's the other end of this argument. It could be yours, or it could be Nintendo's. I'm not sure.

M3i Zero isn't working on USA 3DS systems just so you know, I can confirm this after having tested it on more then one North American release unit, with both the stock and updated firmware. Hoping the M3 gets off their asses and updates soon.

Is it working for anyone else?

Can this thread be made into a sticky? I'm sure it'll be very useful to everyone who is concerned about the hack and the bricking or whatever...

what the fuck?
please read up instead of spreading rumors that are obviously false. it doesn't take a lawyer to tell you that once you pay for a piece of hardware, it's YOURS to do whatever you want with it. whether that be modding it, pirating with it, dancing with it, fucking it, painting it, or whatever you want to do. and nintendo has no right to stop you from doing so. however, they can deny you their services (or ban you).
if we were just renting our PS3s from sony, they would have borked all our systems, not ban us from PSN. this is exactly what sony is trying to fight for - to make modding their system illegal (because as it stands, it's perfectly legal.), and even if/when it does get outlawed, they still won't have the right to brick anyone. it's just stupid to think that it's a possibility.

damn, Rydian beat me to it. i had several tabs open

I agree. We actually pay S$399 just to RENT a console? No right?

It is just like jailbreaking an iPhone. They will void your warranty if you do it but you are free to do whatever you want to do anything to it. Same goes for the 3DS i suppose.

Given what we've seen over the last couple of weeks, stickying stuff is not by any means going to stop the idiotic threads. They're unstoppable.

They are unstoppable all right, but at least it makes it easier to separate this from those threads.

I tested mine on my own as well as a friends 3DS systems and I get the No SD Card Found error message, yet it boots on DS systems no problem. Hankchill can confirm that it doesn't work because I tried it on his 3DS and I got the same error message.

Why would i rent something indefinetly???? I don't rent, I live in VA where failure to return rental property is a crminal offense, Im not renting anything I dont know the due date to lol.
The System is yours once you buy point blank period. They can ban the serial, access to thier online services, and updates. The system as it is before they found out you voided your warrenty is how it will stay, no new updates, inability to play new games, inability to do whatever new features they implament with said updates.
The US isnt the only country where they cant do this, its illegal in europe as well. Nintendo (I believe it was them) had a lawsuit in European country where the judge ruled in favor of defendent in that Homebrew and modding are not illegal.
There should be no speculation or rumor that Nintendo is going to do this. By all means every company has the power to control they systems when they roll of the assembly line but and i emphize this BUT common sense will tell you any of them doing that would cause problems for them as well. Think of the millions maybe billions that they would spend in legal feesand the loss of sales due to them locking people out or literally locking people up.
that would kinda be like you buying a brand new car and ford telling you if u put any afer market mods to your engine or car they will lock up your engine so u cant use it LOL

Anyways hacking and modding will always happen, they'll release new updates to block/ban it and someone somewhere will find a new work around its just a matter of time, and for the most of us that use r4's ack's cyclo's or any other flash cart thats all we have is time, waiting for it to happen.
But while this does happen, I went and purchased street fighter 3d last night, gotta say i like it, im impressed.
And I can also confirm the m3i zero doesnt work in 3ds works in my wifes dsi XL but get an error in the 3ds.

Again love the forums, and does anyone know know when the browser will be made available on the 3ds?

You might want to remove the R4i Gold from the list of working carts.

I bought one because I thought it worked, but it turns out you need the "special" 3DS version.

Few questions. I'm a noob at this, but not really a noob for forums so I know to ask my questions in one place
tongue.gif

What do you mean exactly by 3DS mode? You said it's DS Mode hacked, but what do you mean? Do you mean 3DS games would still work if you downloaded it (Well when it comes out) but it will be displayed in 2D?

Also, what flashcard do you recommend? I hear lots of great stuff about AceKardi. However, for my regular DS Lite I used a regular R4DS and it worked great, especially when WOOD R4 was released. Anyways, back to my question, does the AceKard get updated as often as WOOD R4? I believe the maker of AKAIO is the same maker or WOOD R4 or something. I have also heard the update for 3DS compatible is coming out on the release of the European release. Is that true?

Thanks. :]
