I'm not even going to BS like everyone else and say I don't want to pirate. I don't have money to buy any games, I've only bought ocarina and mario kart for my 3ds using gift money and after losing Mario kart my 3ds has been gathering dust somewhere. I really just want to pirate.

I don't want to pirate since I barely play games as it is these days.
I don't want to play emulators for the same reason, but also because my Xperia Play would be far superior at emulating.
I don't even want the region lock because I don't know any Japanese so it's useless to me.

However, I can code, and I love coding on unique hardware. I'm really looking forward to researching into what 3d on a handheld device can provide.

Can you list a source? Seriously, im not joking or trying to be mean. I am, however, wanting rip my own physical games. This would open a pandoras box of everything else... I doubt, even if the exploit and programs that come with it blocked ROM loading (of 3DS roms), some other hacker will probably find a way.

He doesn't know what he's talking about.

If it was impossible to run roms on the 3DS, his plea for people to buy the games would be redundant. People would have no other option than to purchase the games they want to play.
Also, there has been no indication from anybody that it is impossible for the 3DS to run roms.

It'll be silent for awhile, I'm afraid.

The wiki has been frequently updated, but it's mostly a repository of what they currently know being kept for archival reasons. So I'm not going to say that when the wiki is updated that any progress has actually been made, because there might not have been.

If there is progress, the milestones are small or not important enough for the/easily explainable to the layman. They could probably steamroll you with a boatload of information but you would be standing there trying not to drool from boredom while they do it.

You can go idle in the IRC channel for this but in all honesty it's just as bad there as it is here so there isn't a point.

I suggest forgetting about it honestly. Try not to get yourself excited. You might miss some sort of update or something, but I mean... It's not gonna go anywhere, so. You can easily catch up later.

tl;dr don't worry about it and go do something productive.

dudes, wtf ? can you guys please clarify me something ?
they find an exploit in some game, 3DS stores savegames on SD card, do we really need the game cart in order to hack or just the savegame, thant could be copied from the computer ?

If it is...uh I can just grab it online somewhere for a reasonable price.

If things come to this, people here in Brasil will do it for you for about U$25,00, so i don't need to buy a game just because of it exploits, save for a better game, like the new castlevania.

As has been said before, they've hacked it (at least if we assume what they said and shown are true). Just that it's not been made public. If/When there is some significant progress, it will be made very very very obvious on the first page.
