I don't see a good reason for region locking a system. Did Nintendo ever say why they region locked the 3DS, and other consoles for that matter? I can see why region-lock and homebrew could lead a person to hacking a particular system.

it's simple, more money by separating regions (including publishers) and probably control too. that's why companies have offices in different countries usually. comes down to money

Step 1 - Put Super Mario in the US, sell for $50. People will buy it.
Step 2 - Put Super Mario in Ethiopia for $20, since they'll buy it at that price but can't afford it at $50.

Region-locking prevents US people from getting it for $20 by importing.

As far as programming goes, there is much more to it than just knowing the syntax (that's the easy part), the hard part which comes with experience is knowing how to effectively use the tools you are given to create something useful. Creating new software is absolutely engineering and skill in it comes from experience

People just seem too silly for me. "They don't want piracy because they don't want to hurt the 3DS" I am sorry, but I call this bullshit. If the devs lose money I don't think the hackers could care less, it's not their problem.

Nintendo don't want the 3DS to be hacked, even if it's just for homebrew. If Nintendo wanted to allow homebrew in the 3DS, they could easily do it themselves. That's why they blocked sudokuhax and the dsiwarehax in the DSi.

My guess is hackers don't want to be sued and, also, they don't want their own homebrew to face competition from Warez, they want the homebrew developers to be valorized and piracy is in the way. Just think about it, if you had a piracy-free hack wouldn't you want to download a free homebrew game while you don't have the money to buy a retail/eshop game?

I think Xcution is just herpderping around with his DevMen kit. I don't think this is anything related to Yellows8/neimod's work. Could be wrong.
that is what i think to, but he knows how to create homebrew(at least this far) and that is also promising

Lestatbytes lives in the Phillipines apparently, so maybe buying games is not a convenient option for him.
Maybe he's too young or buying 3DS games in that part of the world is really really expensive.

So I'd understand WHY he would want 3DS roms but I still don't really approve. But not everyone has that sort of luxury to avoid these things you know?

stop assuming things too much mate because you know someone loc/race/etc., it tickles, kinda rubbin the wrong side..

anyway i got my own games I BOUGHT em to show support to deserving RPG's companies , what i want its to be able to load em on SD, all of em so i dont need to change cart everytime. so ya dump my cart and save em to sd type of scenario and most of all, is to be able to load JRPGs. yes regionlock sucks.

some people should stop thinking that theyre the only one that can afford to buy an airplane. ;)

I didn't assume anything.
1: You set your location to the Phillipines. So apparently, that's where I know where you're from.
2: I said "Maybe he is too young to afford games", not "He is young". I don't know what your age is, I haven't checked.

but its true as i come from tanzania and here games are $60 or more. Most people's salaries are $600 with the rent being something like $400 and food, electricity etc. Its not plausible for an average joe to buy something at that price. thats why piracy is very rampant here.

Isn't this example the exact OPPOSITE of what happens? For example, people who purchase in Japan are almost always paying more for products, and this is why Japanese companies are particularly hellbent on region-encoding anime and games. The hardcore Japanese consumer can very easily import from the US and save money. America has one of the cheapest fixed prices for video games in the world, so I doubt this is done to damage US importing.

Considering I don't think Nintendo even does business in Ethiopia, it was obviously something pulled out of my ass.
