Thanks! That about covers it.

So I'll just dump the roms over to the blue card. I'll play with save games and GBA emulators and try to get them working.

Any risk here of bricking the 3ds or messing up the GW exploit?

After using any DS mode card, you will need to reinstall the exploit using the blue card or any other compatible DS mode flash card. I suggest the latter, as the blue card is cheap as hell and has known compatibility issues with many games.

Maybe I just stick to the DS Lite for the DS and GBA games, then. Don't wanna buy another cart.

Thanks for all the help!

"You can't go online with Gateway. "
Are you sure about that ? It seems you can go online in Gateway mode, just need to enable wifi no ?

Is it possible to buy dlc from eshop and use it with gateway? I want to buy fire emblems dlc but kinbda scared

I've been thinking about getting a Gateway, but I'm a bit skeptical, being used to a Supercard DSTwo. How good is it actually? Can I dump 20 NDS roms on a microSD, put it in the Gateway and then play them on my 3DS? Are there any loopholes? How long does it usually take before they're compatible with new firmware released for the 3DS? And how come Gateway seems to be pretty much the only flash card? Is the 3DS hacked or not? Why didn't Supercard come out with a flash card capable of playing 3DS roms?

I think the FAQ on the first page of this thread will cover all your questions, if not then by all means post the questions you have left ;)

FAQ did not answer question. So once again, has the 3DS "officially" been hacked, and if so, why is there no Supercard yet compatible with 3DS roms?

I love my DStwo on my ds, and just got a gateway, which is working awesome so far.

Its just a different card type/tech. The gateway team basically figured out how to use a 3ds exploit to run 3ds roms, and some other groups cloned the card tech. Supercard didn't do that, but you can use a DStwo to install the exploit if you're on 4.1-4.5 fw. (Cant run 3ds ROMs without the gateway/clone card however)

tldr - no point in getting gateway if you are over 4.5 since u already have a dstwo card for D's games.
Hack status seems to be on par with how the 360 jtags happened.

So I'm on firmware 7 point something something, is it at all possible to downgrade? I didn't backup shit, unless the stuff that needed to be backed up was backed up automatically.

No you cannot downgrade. A five minute research would've answered that question

I haven't used mine very much yet since it arrived on Saturday, but I think it's pretty good so far.

Gateway comes with two cards, one for 3DS games, the other to activate Gateway mode. You can throw your 20 DS ROMS on a microSD and put them in that 2nd card, as it's actually a DS flashcart.

Are there any loopholes? How long does it usually take before they're compatible with new firmware released for the 3DS?

The biggest loophole, and this ties into your next question, is that it only works on systems with 4.5 firmware or lower.

And how come Gateway seems to be pretty much the only flash card?

I don't know why it seems that way, but it's not. There are a few others, such as the MT Card. A lot of these cards are just clones of the Gateway, though, and stuck on a lower firmware since Gateway started doing things in their firmware to get back at the clones.

Is the 3DS hacked or not?

Partially.

Why didn't Supercard come out with a flash card capable of playing 3DS roms?

I don't know, maybe they didn't know how.

It's interesting how you announce the MT card.

Any chance Gateway will actually catch up to and keep up with Nintendo's official firmware updates, or is it just gonna be a couple of versions behind forever? And while I realize this question has possibly been asked a million times already, what the hell is taking so long with ripping the 3DS open? The DS and the Wii didn't take half this long. Have people just lost interest, or has Nintendo really created such a NASA-quality airtight system that it cannot completely be hacked?

Sorry Bridgeman, i misunderstood then, i was trying to encourage you to look a bit around before you ask questions, because the bulk of the things are already answered many times...and are not that hard to find.

That said i am really greatfull to the people that don't mind sharing the information again..

And to answer your hacking question.
And its like untok says, developers already succeeded for the most part..but do not share for different reasons, main reason is they don't want it misused for piracy.

And if you don't have a 3DS system that has a certain firmware, then you are out of luck.
