Probably not, though I read that the r4i launcher and other gw clones launchers are interchangeable. But don't try using the original gw launcher.dat. Why not get the 3dslink launcher from the 3dslink site?

The r4i 3.3b is actually r4i 2.0 which is based on gw 1.2. It has no emuNAND , doesn't support games based on sdk 5 and no brick code, no save game corruption, and currently the most preferred version to be on if you want to just play roms (zelda link between world is based on sdk 5 so it won't work)
The r4i 3.0b is based on gw 2.0b1 which can run sdk 5 games (latest zelda), has emuNAND but has save corruption issues (I think) and problems with triggering the exploit. It's mostly considered safe from bricking code.

Refer to the wiki for more details

So going from 3.2 back to 3.0 won't "hurt" anything? I know u can't access the eshop anymore, but will eshop titles i already downloaded still work when going to emunand on the 3.0 launcher?

im running a r4ids firmware 2 (afraid of brick) on a regular 3ds with 4.3.0-10U and ive noticed that many games i try to run give me the "game card was removed" error message.

is it because im running on firmware 2 and not 3 that this is happening? or would it not work even if i update?

i can confirm its not the sd card's problem because i have been able to run a lot of older games like fire emblem and eo4 on the same cards.

the games ive unsuccessfully tried are shingeki no kyoujin (0531) yugioh zexal (0530) and project mirai2 (521).

the games are all japanese but ive been able to run jp project mirai1 (0218) perfectly fine so im pretty sure it isnt regionblock.

i've tried to search for some kind of answers but usually this kind of problem gets resolved through getting new sd cards or new flashcarts.

Update to 3.3 as its based on the GW 2.0b1 code - Which so far there (I believe) hasn't been any reported bricks. The dangerous code came in 2.0b2 which was R4i 3.2.

i've updated to 3.3b which is the highest version they have on their site and i'm still getting this problem. have formatted 2 previously working microsd's so im quite certain its still not on the microsd's part.

have gone ahead and tried 3.3 no b as well and still no luck. this paired with the fact that my old games are still functioning make me think that maybe these games just dont work?

i have not dabbled in emunand because i do not quite understand the implications or effects it would do me, and i dont plan to play pokemon or animal crossing, could this be a factor as well?

3.3 was based on b2 right?
I think 3.3b (gateway 1.2) or 3.0(gateway 2.0b1) is what you should be On if you don't feel like risking a brick

Ooh I thought 3.3 was 2.0b1.... My mistake. All this clone nonsense. 3.1 should be safe?

3.1 and 3.2 are based on gw 2.0b2 so both have bricking code. 3.0 is based on b1 it's safe but has saving problems. 3.3b is based on gw 1.2 so totally safe without emuNAND and few game support.

Probably been asked a milion times, but does having the latest 3DS firmware screw you from ever getting a hacked 3DS?
I know that you can't use Gateway, but I mean in the future where maybe a real hack comes out.

Pretty much, with each new FW release from Nintendo there are higher levels of security and patches all/most exploits people are working with to bring HB and roms etc.

Thanks for a quick reply.

I figured that(To late) but is there still a posebility that my 3ds could get hacked?
Like, is there a word floting arround that someone found a way to downgrade or hack this firmwear using other methods then Gateway?

Only way so far is on the proviso you had a NAND backup from 4.1-5 and the use of hardware. Don't know which exploits the HB scene are using. Average advice for this I've seen so far is sell the 3DS you have and source a 4.5 one.

I got the 3DS Link launcher from its site, but some games are not working on 3DS Link (to name a few, Zelda ALBW and Bravely Default EUR).

If you think loaders are interchangeable, why are you advising against using the original gw launcher?

You can't use gateway's original launcher with clone cards, but you can use another clone's launcher with a clone card.
For example: you can use R4i Gold or Orange 3DS fws in your 3DSlink, but IIRC it will not give you any advantage.

Yes, the clone launchers are interchangeable. Probably because they may all be made by the same company.
Also zelda albw will work if you used the clone launcher ver 3.0 (3.1 and 3.2 also will work but can brick console). bravely default will work on even 3.3b (which is the same as clone launcher 2.0) I've got it running
