This was the second place I was gonna get it from. On Gateways reseller page it says ships from china and on his it says royal mail 1st class, maybe they changed. Its also cheaper
http://www.buygateway3ds.com/gateway-3ds-flashcart-ship-from-uk-p-56.html

thanks for that, super dubious about them being in the UK though. Always a dead giveaway when you can select your currency at the top of the page. Ill keep searching but i'm starting to think teensy is the only uk seller. ta

DO NOT USE www.buygateway3ds.com

They are a scam site, ordered a week ago (in the UK) and nothing arrived as of yet. Further to this, my card details have been copied and suspect payments been made to a catfurniture (???) company based in Beijing. Card cancelled and VISA fraud team on the case.

I don't know if it was posted before but:

The top comment of this video is a comment of the team Gateway, and it was posted a week ago:

The wait shouldn't be very long now. We can't give a date yet as we want to make sure that just like our past firmware, this new one, and the ones coming after, are 100 working with all consoles we support. This takes a lot of intensive testing. Once testing is complete, we will release the firmware, and of course you will be informed. mailto:[email protected]

why not use teensy they are always been trustworthy and will be honest if they have stock or not, i don't understand why some people only trust sites that have the product name within the site address. you live and learn..........................................sudeki300

To be fair they are listed as a reseller on the actual Gateway site. leeksausage can send the info onto gateway (if he wants to of course) then they can remove the link to the buygateway3ds shop. Just placed an order with teensy so we'll see how they fair. i've read reviews on other forums that aren't all good which is why i was looking for another option myself.

edit: there vetting process doesn't seem to be up to much though if an email is all it takes.

Please e-mail us to add your shop: [email protected]

Yeah, only ordered through them as they were on the Gateway site for official resellers. Saw Teensy and then buygateway3ds and noticed they both post from within the UK. The price was cheaper on buygateway3ds so just took the punt to save myself a bit of cash, then realised they added postage cost on top so the real price difference between sites was negligible but was already through all the forms I just continued.

Flash forward a week, no news, nothing in the post, online banking showing sums coming out of my account that i certainly didnt authorise, all originating from China. The original "payment" i made to buygateway3ds wasnt even listed, clearly they just logged the card details then processed the order to "paid" and then "despatched", lulled into a false sense of security! Fraud team told me its common for a series of small transactions to be made by the fraudsters so they can 'test' the integrity of the card details prior to clearing out the account!

Was a VISA debit and just got told via text the funds will be reimbursed to me once I have filled in some forms they are sending me. Waiting for a new card now too so il guess il order an ACTUAL card from Teensy when it arrives next week. And yes, absolutely, I am emailing the official Gateway team to let them know of this incident and send them any relevant info/proof they might need of the whole thing!

Glass half full: guess this makes waiting for 2.0 just a little bit easier! lol!

So I got my DS the other day and it has the correct firmware for using the Gateway card, if I connect to the internet will the DS automatically upgrade the firmware, or does the upgrade only happen if you visit the e-shop? I do not want to accidentally upgrade my DS so I haven't even connected it to the internet at all.

It will download the update if you connect to the internet (you mustn't visit the eShop). Then it asks you every 24 hours to update.

They are ALREADY killing their product by not releasing 2.0 and being silent on it when most likely the CLONES will beat them to the punch in releasing it.
Maybe they want to have something in their backhand or they are testing it deeply. No one is better or bader as long as nothing got released (at least if you argue with support).

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
