Is there a way to distinguish between sysnand and emunand when using extdata_dump? Do they have to be linked? I'm worried I wont be able to move my Monster Hunter X save between my 9.0 CFW and my other 9.9 3DS.

AFAIK, it only depends of NAND type from you are running "extdata_dump" app. If you are using from SysNAND, then you can only dump/restore files on SysNAND (both shared NAND or SD extdata parts), not on EmuNAND, and vice versa (unless you have your NANDs joined together yet).

This is probably stupid but how do I dump everything from an specific game?

I've tried DUMP "gameid:/" "folder/" , using *'s after the /'s and a few other things but nothing worked. The example file only shows how to work with a specific file. It's gonna be a hassle to dump everything every time. :(

The feature doesn't exist right now, sorry... But dumping all once is enough to let you know what files to add to the config, no?

Thanks for answering. Well kind of, I just wanted to dump all my Pokémon battle videos at once and hopefully have a clean config.ini for that. It's still possible since they're limited to 100 anyway, it'll just be a bit long if I add everything. :P

I've seen games store extdata files up to 110MB+ in size, is there any chance of supporting larger files?

I tried changing the limit but setting it too high just made the 3DS freeze.

Is there a way to dump all data and then restore all of it after a factory reset? I'd need to do that to downgrade my 3DS but I don't want to lose all of my streetpass Mii's, notes and so on...

You can backup all extdata and manually add them to the restore list. However I can't guarantee whether restoring extdata will keep everything you're trying to keep.

Can someone tell me if it's possible to backup streetpass mii plaza puzzle pieces with this tool?

I already tried to dump everything, but the streetpass mii plaza folder has 0 files in it.
On my SD card, on the other hand, there are 50 MB of files inside the corresponding streetpass mii plaza extdata-folder.

No, I don't believe so. Well, it wouldn't work for me anyhow.

this does not dump spotpass extdata. that 50MB is the actual puzzles you downloaded. not sure if the piece savedata is in the savedata (not extdata) or mixed in with the puzzle spotpass extdata, but neither is what this tool deals with.

I just downloaded the dropbox contents, but when I put the .3dsx and the other files inside the 3DS folder (like the other .3dsx files) it is not recognized by menuhax, is there something extra I must do?

also, with this I'll be able to dump the MHX save file, right? this is basically my only option right now, thanks for any help

oops, very sorry, I missed that.

------

well, it seems the data was successfully dumped, but how do I restore it in another 3DS system?

the save seems to be stored in 2 files in the dump folder:

dumps/00001554/system
dumps/00001554/system_backup

there are 2 files with similar sizes inside the extdata folder:

extdata/00001554/00000000/00000003
extdata/00001554/00000000/00000004

how should I set up the config file, if I have to do that, for these to restore?

copy your saves root of extdata_dump folder.
add thee 2 lines to config.txt.

RESTORE "system" "00001554:/system"
RESTORE "system_backup" "00001554:/system_backup"

When i launch extdata_dump in emunand, i got the following errors and no data is created..

.bin (3371008): 0xd900458b----- name: /BgmCache_07.bin ---failed to read 000002cd/BgmCache_07.bin

until...

.bin (3371008): 0xd900458b----- name: /BgmCache_00.bin ---failed to read 000002cd/BgmCache_00.bin

That's odd... is that just when dumping all, or what? Also, are your entrypoint and boot.3dsx up to date?

Hello, I'd like some help with this if you don't mind. I am trying to edit my inventory in Terraria using hex editing. I extracted the files fine but I'm having a hard time restoring them. Basically, I dumped all extdata, took out the Terraria file (000016a9), modified it, and now I dont know how to edit the config file to restore it. The file is under dumps/000016a9
I'd really appreciate any help I can get with the format of the config file, Thanks!
