What that guy said makes zero sense, because that's not how emulation works, in the of the day what really matters is how much code translation it'll need to be done and how many components developers will need to reverse engineer, so using n64 and gamecube as examples make zero sense, n64 is a MIPS console for Christ's sake.
Same for your arguments, it's kinda hard to say the gamecube is more powerfull than a 3ds, let's review the CPU: for the gamecube the cpu is a single core PPC clocked around 400Mhz, the old 3ds CPU is ARM 11 clocked around 280MHz, but the 3ds is dual core. For the new 3ds the cpu is just faster, I think it clocks around 800Mhz but I'm not sure it's single core.

Depending on what you're going to run, on real hardware, the 3ds might be faster or the gamecube might be, specially because the thermals inside a gamecube is better, but I think a gamecube is no match for a New 3ds. For emulation? On a switch you'll probably have to translate more code coming from a PPC CPU than an ARM11, so you'll probably have a harder time emulating gamecube than, let's say, a New 3DS even tho a New 3DS is way more powerfull. OFC that's only for CPU, there's GPU, audio etc.

Unfortunately emulation is not as simple as non-coders paint it to be, too many variables, that's why a console as ancient as a n64 is still kinda hard to emulate nowadays.

I am curious to know what makes "zero sense" in the context of a year ago (N64 cores were barely out and Citra was a pipe dream), as its how old my comment is, and my only point back then was it was a struggle to get N64 running (and Gamecube was only possible on Lakka)

I'm certainly not tech-savvy when it comes to emulators but I don't think I ever denied it could work out.

Has anyone tried out xenoblade chronicles 3ds with the citra on the switch!
I wonder if we could use the wii high resolution patch with it.

It does work on SX OS. Also, Im a megaten fan and tried both SMT Apocalypse and Persona Q2, both worka very good with a somo overclock, witch is amazing because some other rpgs like Dragon quest run very bad.
My luck...doesn't work with sx os, i need to set up atmosphere.
Anyone tried smt IV and persona q2 , how they run?

I mean, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition JUST came out on Switch. I can't believe it's that terrible a port that someone would prefer the 3ds version. The 3ds version looked like shit.

Can you please tell me your settings?
i have fw 10.4 + sx os 3.0+retroarch 1.8.8
I really don't know what could be the problem. When i try to load the core it crashes with error code 2168-0002.
Thanks

Switch: 9.2.0, SXOS:V2.95, Retro 1.8.8

I highly recommend to making a clean re-installation of retroarch and of course run it in full ram. Everytime my retroarch crashes is because of file corruption because I'm always moving from Atm to SXOS.

Maybe is some incompatibly bug from your switch setup, most likely the firmware, thats why I keep my firmware the lowest that I can.

Hope you can find the way to make it works.

Did some tests (all of them with Cpu: 1581, gpu: 468, ram: 1600. I do not to recommend Overclock in general, but it doesnt seem to have mayor impact with citra) resolution X1, Vsync off.

Conception 2: It runs well most of the time, battles are a little slow.

Prof layton vs Phoenix: It runs amazing in videos, characters conversations are very slow even on low Res, Puzzles works, but the touch is still very imprecise.

Fantasy Life: crashes at start.

Street fighter IV: Runs very slow, 25 fps maybe (? very unplayable.

Shin megami tensei Apocalypse: Very impresive. Even without OC its very playable, with it runs like charm.

Persona Q2: More of the same, very playable.

Metroid 2: You know it, works fine.

Bravely default: Works very well.

Dragon quest Monsters Terry : Runs fine most of the time, on open areas it turn slow.

Dragon quest Monster Joker 3: Unplayable, but looks promising.Runs better than in my Ryzen 5 lmao.

FInal fantasy Explorers: Another surprise, runs very well even without OC. So, monster hunter fans, there you go.

Fire emblem Echoes: It chrases and Menu is very slow.

Hope this can help you up with some games, sorry if I broke some forum rule. And sorry for my bad english, im learning. Also, I wanna thank m4xw for his amazing work.

On the discord channel, he says it doesn't support SX OS.
Is there anyone that has managed to run it on SX?

His emulators never officially support SX OS because he hates SX OS. But other than Flycast all of them work anyway. Yes I tried Citra on SX OS briefly and it worked.

Ok, thank you very much. I thought it was a compatibility issue.
It crashes when i load the game... will do some more investigation, if nobody knows how to solve it.
(I'm on 8.1 emunand, sx OS 2.9.4, retroarch 1.8.8)
