Sounds like they'll disable access to online?
To me it sounds more like the post before yours before mine.
QUOTEIf you want to put it that way: All 3 firmware regions (US, EUR and JAP) will detect if they're running on a korean wii and halt themselves. There's no practical reason for them to do so, if the check is patched out they run perfectly fine (and each can run on other region wiis that aren't korean). They check specifically for a key that is only present in korean wiis and shut down if it is found. I would have thought people were well aware of it, given that it's old news in the wii hacking section.
All the 00x errors are based on detecting hacks:
Error 001: "Backup" disc or modchip detected, triggered by the disc being the wrong type (DVD Video disc instead of Wii disc), being able to read sectors from the disc that shouldn't be accessible or failing to read BCA data.
Error 002: Wrong IOS version being used to load a game or channel, not possible unless an update has been bypassed.
Error 003: Region changed korean wii, see above. This is the only error that causes a semi-permanent brick because it is triggered as soon as the system menu appears. It even has its own page on the troubleshooting section of Nintendo's website.
Error 004: Corrupt game banner (bannerbomb detection).
