Great tutorial! Got it going on my wii last night and had zero issues following the instructions! Only "problem" I had was finding the IOS16 but a bit of homework got me what I needed.

Thanks again!!!!!

Couple questions from a noob here ;.; ..

I installed already my HBC, backuplaunchers and everything else needed to play backup games, but I did *not* install Starfall back then, neither did I do firmware upgrade. ( I have 3.1E ) Now that I have installed all of these already, can I still use firmware upgrader ? If I can, and will .. will I have to install the Twilight hack with HBC, Backuplauncher and then cIOS installer again ? ( I don't own TP anymore ;.; )

Do I need to pay any attention to this '' IOS Downgrader '' you mentioned ?

As for upgrading itself, how does it exactly work ? Can I just pick the region and version I want, and that's it.. Not alot of different weird options to mess around with which probably I would manage to brick my Wii with ?

As for Starfall itself, I read somewhere you need to put Zelda Twilight Princess into the Wii console to boot up the rescue menu of Starfall, is this true ? Because if it is, all of this serves no point for me since I don't own Twilight anymore.

Edit : From the comments I read I got confused.. do I need Wi-Fi to use IOS or cIOS downgrader ? ... Obviously I don't have wireless router or access for Wi-Fi otherwise -.-

Any help would be appreciated ;.;

Yes sorry you need internet access for cIOS Downgrader. You will not have to redo anything with the twilight hack if you still have HBC installed. Just load cIOS Downgrader and choose 3.2 for your region.

Hope that helps?

Am i going to be able to play imported region locked games if i do all this, im in pal region and most of my games are orderd from asia?

Yea it helps but so.. There's no way to upgrade to 3.2 without Wi-Fi ? Cause on wiibrew.org on Starfall topic it says something about using AnyRegionChancer 1.1 .

And also I'd like confirmation wether I need Twilight Princess to boot up the rescue menu to delete bad .wad files with Starfall or not..

Yes you would need TP to delete the bad wad (or rather, to load Wad manager, to delete bad wad) I dont know about any region changer. try it but it might need internet as well. Ive never used it.

I finally decided to downgrade my personal wii and the CIOS_FIX wont install. It gives me a -1035 error, and i'm using custom wm.

Edit: it went in by using just normal wad manager.

Now I am up and running on menu version 3.2U with starfall. Thanks again for the great guide.

great have been hanging for an easy way to get this and now here it is. thanks.

how can my wii get bricked by this?(besides nintendo update)
what is the posibility of it getting bricked?
ways to avoid getting bricked?

Hello,

I've tried this tutorial, and got stuck when using IOS downgrader and connecting to the internet (ret -1 error). My wifi works, I am using 3.3E and Homebrew Channel v9

[STEP 1] [Perform BOTH these steps if you are already on 3.3 or 3.4 then move on to Step 2]

+Load Wad Manager in Homebrew Channel and install IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad
Yes, even if you have received errors trying to install other wads this should still work.

+Load Custom WM in Homebrew Channel and install cios_fix.wad
You cannot install this wad with Wad Manager. This is a custom wad manager designed to work for IOS16.

+Load IOS Downgrader in Homebrew Channel. Just follow any prompts until it tells you it is complete. This is the step where I get stuck
I've tried IOS downgrader many times (and reformatting SD card, tweaking router settings, tweaking wifi settings) but to no avail. I only have 1 internet connection setting on my wii. I simply cannot download the files for IOS downgrader... is there any alternative?

Note: This is not a picture taken by me, but the screen is exactly the same as what I get:

Any possibility of removing IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad and cios_fix.wad safely? Do I just use WAD manager (or custom WAD manager with cios_fix.wad) and remove? Or could I just update to 3.4E and then try again?

Note: I have accepted to Terms and conditions before, and tried again... still the same error... I don't think my router is blocking anything

try to run cios downgrader first then ios downgrader after . and restart your router and the Wii console

be sure there is no GC memory Card inserted in the Wii

Loading CIOS downgrader first gives me the same error... the ret = -1 error.

I have had no GC memory cards inserted.

Maybe nintnedo deleted the files on their server?

go to install the Starfall and when i hit the b+1 it gives me a failed exiting! anything i an doing wrong everything worked great just stuck on this step

so if i were to download to 3.2 it will be patched to where it wont ask me to upgrade?
and 3.2 is all i need to run gamma correct just asking to make sure

3.2 itself is not needed to run gamma, you can still run gamma on 3.3 or 3.4, 3.2 is just the reccomended. Starfall only works on 3.2 and with starfall you get extra protection against wad bricking, and it will block system updates from discs

Since I have no idea why I cannot download files for IOS downgrader (or cIOS downgrader), I was wondering, how could I reverse the steps preceding this?

That is, how could I remove IOS16 v257 and the cIOS_fix without damaging system files? Could I simply press the MINUS (-) key in WAD manager v1.3? Or use Anytitledeleter?
