Is it normal for a forum to go through this much amount of drama over some repeated post? Isn't that a typical occurrence considering your number 1 when googled "3DS hacking" . Like everyone keeps saying the 3DS hacking is destitute, and the few interesting topics on the matter are already stickied. And if you look all the other post are the same anyways. When the thing gets hacked in the year 2025 then you do mass exodus of the nonsense post and people can get back to asking which way their super card goes in.

Post restriction is the dumbest thing ever. I'm a member of several sites where I could contribute valuable things but refuse to because the process is too time consuming or convoluted

I think a suggestion and a control if the user has readed the sikies, would be better than a total restriction.
In some sites, they dont let you post until you readed the forum rules at least once.

In all honesty, I have been part of forums which require you to post XXX number of posts to get YYY privilege. And if this were to be implemented here, I can foresee more shitpost by said n00bz just so they can obtain aforementioned privilege.

Maybe we should enlarge the search bar and before they make a new thread, have a popup with the "Have you tried SEARCHING? Type your query here first!" kind of thing. Cos I swear to God, sometimes I want to strangle them when they ask a question that has been answered 892793703 times :\

Generally if it's a question that's been answered 10,000 times, the answer is in a sticky.

This isn't like other techical forums where there's a ton of varied questions. They're usually along the same line ("what cart do I get", "my 3DS blocked my cart what do I do", "new games won't run", "what program do I hack my wii with", "hey guys I saw a 3DS emulator on youtube", etc.).

Because people who were stupid enough to start a thread going "look at dis 3ds hax" or "did the 3ds get hacked yet?????" won't just make the same post in another 3DS forum.

This wouldn't help at all, it'd just make the shit spread over a wider radius.

This would leed to 25-50 pointless posts for every new noob... and there is lots of people who are here for years and have only few posts ... so "No".

My hope is that they would stop and read instead of just posting, because they arn't allowed to they would have no other option. You're right though they would just spam other parts of the forum til they hit.

I think its not really so necessary to worry about the posts being created, the annoying thing is that people who know better keep replying to the damn things and keep them at the top of the forum list. A new post about crown3ds just got to 4 pages. Seriously?

I think the moderators should be proactive and strict about locking any topic that could have been answered by reading the stickies, and of course also post a link to the relevant sticky when locking the topic.

...Or people can actually report threads?

I find A LOT of people just go "WOW MODS GO LOCK THIS SHIT" but never report it. Unfortunately moderators are not omniscient. Report threads, people, don't blame mods that something isn't getting locked soon enough.

I hate sites that do this like xda for example I have nothing to contribute but questions to ask and yet I can't ask any seems pointless huh

Also I know this pertains to the Wii scene but devs like RetroArch would not have been able to share their apps with us as he just joined maybe a few months ago to let us know his work. He is also willing to port to any system he has. Just saying if you add post count to reply then you handicap us all

Well this would be 3DS only, for now there is no breakthrough. Once that changes i would think so would the rules but say there is a limit ( i see the reasons for not just bare with me) a dev with no post wanting to post a thread would just pm a mod. Lets say he posted a CFW for 3ds with only one post, everyone would call him a liar or ask for verification. This way with 1 post and preverified by a mod we could trust his work more so.

Usually the people who have anything to contribute have far better uses of their time than idling on an internet forum filled with "idea guys".

Remember that a large portion of those "members" only sign in to ask this one question and then leave, never to be seen again. What point does it make to educate them if they have no intention of becoming regular users, at least for the most part?

If they don't agree they don't get to post.
If they do agree and post shit anyways, they get a kick (metaphorical or not).

I don't even trust the stickies. When the 3ds roms got dumped I waited almost a week,at least 3 days for it to be updated. I mean, what if it were late again, I come here to know about 3ds hacking, when all the posts are about someone asking what flash cart they should get, or some other flashcart problem. I don't trust the stickies, but I know better than to actually ask if it's been hacked. But then again, I have under 50 posts, so I must be a no good dirty noob, in most people's eyes.

So you don't trust any of the stickies because one didn't update quickly... for no reason?

You do realize that nothing runs 3DS ROMs, right? People have known about them for ages, but there's nothing we can do with them. Anything you see on youtube about 3DS emulators, for example, is fake.
