i managed it now these were my steps
1. format sd via switch
2. extract the zip directly to the sd instead of elsewhere using an sd reader
3. try it a few times

job done at least for me if anyone gets the problems give it a whirl :)

Download the installer again.
I dont think they are increasing the version number and I think they updated the installer.
Do a shutdown and not a restart if it goes wrong.

Worked for me in the end but you need to retry.

Thank you!!! I was getting the 2168-0003 error using a 128gb Samsung microsd. I couldn't format it via the Switch itself, since it's an sdxc and the system kept prompting for an update. So I did the following:

  1. Format the sd card as FAT32 on the pc using EaseUS partition tool
  2. Pop the sd into the Switch to make sure that it recognizes it and creates the "Nintendo" folder
  3. Inserted the sd back to the pc, and extract the zip file DIRECTLY to the sd root as opposed to extracting it to a local folder then transferring over.
  4. Followed the installation steps and voila! Now getting the HBL to install correctly.

I couldn't figure out why I kept getting that 2168-0003 error before, but the only real change I made was extracting the zip directly to sd and that seemed to work. Thanks again!

I had the 0003 error and found that I needed to power down/shutdown rather than retart after installing.

If you have the pegaswitch screen when installing.
Let it retstart then shutdown.
Start the switch and go through and run.
Then the album should work ok.
