Not nessescarily, you can use menuhax, but there's no reason to not get it unless you are afraid.

If you mean menuhax is with cfw, yes, you set up menuhax to automagically boot into a payload that takes over the rest of the console with memchunkhax and firmlaunchhax.

Your lucky this method exists I wouldn't be holding out for anything else or you will more than likely end up stuck with no choice but a hardmod

yes, i already succesfully downgraded an o3ds with this method. It was a pain in the ass though

How many dumps did you create?

I made about 2 backup dumps. One for the hack 3ds and one for the non-hack 3ds, (after system transfer). The dump of the 11.0 unhack 3ds, took the longest, almost an hour.

Also, read my previous post. There's this one extra step where you have to take the SD card from hack 3ds (containing the fieldrunner game) and then inserting it into the unhack 3ds after the system transfer is done.

got it working first time.

only problem i've got is trying to resign in to 3ds #1 with my NNID ,

it say the NNID is still linked to another console (3ds #2) despite me formatting the 3ds as part of the downgrade process (in pilects guide)

is it because i have to wait 7 days? I havn't restored my sysnand-a9lhax.bin nand yet, as the guide says you must first sign in to the nnid on the console after initial setup

any advice on this would be appreciated

I am actually surprised the guide says that, since to my knowledge, formatting a console isn't enough to unlink a NNID, all it does is sign it off that console, but on Nintendo's side it's still linked to that particular 3DS. You'll probably need to call Nintendo to unlink it from that 3DS and tell them that you ended up selling it or losing it or something.

Edit: If I am wrong, I am wrong, so if anyone can confirm what is the proper way to fully unlink an NNID, that would be great.

Actually using FWtool on my O3DS unhacked.
It runs perfectly
However, it is REALLY SLOW

Someone should really fix fwtool to where it dumps/restores only 8MBs (Firm0 + 1). That would save a lot of time and make a lot of sense.

I have a question. Is it possible to buy and install the fieldrunner game on official 11.0 firmware and then somehow use freakyhax+godmode9 to inject the exploited save file?
