Even with JustPingo's app, nothing will change. We have CFW now, just we needed a 2.5 workaround until *hax 2.5 is supported by CFW

Ah well, I'd suggest giving cakes a shot tomorrow before you call a complete retry.
If that doesn't work either, then starting fresh seems a sound enough idea.

For what, emunand?
If you have homemenuhax still installed, you can probably just enter system settings after booting into emunand and back out letting homemenuhax trigger (since this is a firmware change).
Use this ctrbootmanager chance to boot into the HB menu and install FBI from there (with the 3dsx file to install the cia on emunand as I wrote about before)

Edit: or if you really want to inject fbi you just need to place the proper fbi rxtools injection files (available on github) on the root of your sd card, and hold L when booting rxtools to access the inject fbi option

Well to give you a rundown of the general procedure from memory:

Hold L to boot into rxtools menu.
From here find that fbi injection option, there should be a button you can press to get TMD info or something.
Use that TMD info to know what version to grab off github.
Place the "fbi_inject.app" and "fbi_inject.tmd" on the sd card root.
Head back into rxtools and try running the inject fbi to emunand option


Did you try something along these lines?

Users have reported this not working when your nands are still linked! I recommend unlinking your nands first! Read the section "Emunand Information" below!

Download FBI.cia

1. Boot up your 3DS and launch rxTools. Hold L when the bottom screen glitches to get into the menu.

2. Press dpad RIGHT to go to Advanced Options -> Press A -> Install FBI -> Press A -> choose EMUNAND, then select "check TMD version".
If you want to install GBA/DSi games in the future:
Choose sysnand the second time you go over this section (Step 4a)
3. Take note of the console region and the TMD version, and turn off your 3DS.

4. Open the rxtools download and open the "Tools/fbi_injection/[region]/[version]" folder and copy the "fbi_inject.app" and "fbi_inject.tmd" files to the SD card root dir.

5. Put the FBI.cia from the FBI download onto your sd card

6. Boot up your 3DS and launch rxTools. Hold L when the bottom screen glitches to get into the menu.

7. Press dpad RIGHT to go to Advanced Options -> Press A -> Install FBI -> Press A -> choose EMUNAND, then select "Install FBI". When it's done, it will ask what you want to do with the source. Select "keep" if you want to install FBI to sysnand later.

Are you perhaps on a new3ds? I've heard reports of the RX injection feature not working on n3ds units.
In which case I'd suggest what I've said before. Booting to emunand and booting to the HB menu (through menuhax/browserhax) from there to install fbi.cia through the fbi.3dsx

If you're on a N3DS, get d0k3 Decrypt9 for this injection. Note you can pick any CIA you like such as DevMenu. THOUGH I've not ever used that.
Also if this won't work, dump the EmuNAND, get FAT16 xorpad from Decrypt9, inject that manually to somwhat else.

Injected it! Thank you so much (@jaksy too!) for helping me with this. Now I can finally set off. I'll go ahead and make a tutorial with all the information given to me to help others that have no idea wtf they're doing. Expect that tomorrow afternoon!

You have to keep trying, I was getting this error multiple times yesterday, but eventually it worked. (not try to install cia again, restart FBI and then try to install) FBI just didn't boot up properly. It's probably missing a required service access or something like that.
