I had too much stuff going on or something and the updater locked up on me. I ended up having to run the repair tool, but all is okay now. I was a little scared though when my DS-X wasn't recognized.

I can't find much that has changed so far.

Games like Zelda work without arm7 patching, _but_ Zelda wouldn't work with a preexisting save. It formatted the save to start over. I haven't tested many others yet but either way you should back up. Maybe there's a way to convert the old save with Shuny's web converter to something that will be recognized, if losing data is a big deal for you.

Geometry Wars still requires auto boot enabled to run.

Tales of Innocence doesn't crash at the intro movie (as expected because you don't have to patch arm7) but it will still lock up during battles. I don't know any way to circumvent this.

The DS-X app load time is faster, but I upgraded from 1.1.0 so I think that was also the case with 1.1.2. Nanostray and Dragon Quest Rocket Slime no longer seem to freeze for me, but that may also have been a 1.1.2 fix.

Emulators like NESDS are still broken for me, the touchscreen controls are twitchy and unusuable. We think it's because of the DS-X but I'm still not sure.

Hopefully if+when they post a changelog it will clarify some of these things because so far it seems the only thing fixed is they eliminated manual arm7 patching, but all the bugs that accompanied this are still present on the DS-X where other flash cards don't seem to suffer them.

Still broke? it worked in 1.1.2 for me....

I get some glitches in puzzle quest, but still playable, and i don't know why would Zelda formatt the save, all the games work with old saves

zelda works fine for me. ive put back the last save backup before the last save loss ive encountered in 1.1.2 and since then with the 1.1.3, no more problem and fear of save loss

.
for dib, try use a former save backup than your last one(corrupt) and it will work

and bricking your dsx with software is impossible thanks to the usb connector. (in worst worst case scenario you just have to use the hidden reset and boot the usb chip into factory mode then flash it good hehehe

Try DS-Xtreme => Supercard one

Anyway I still don't get the difference between an old DSX save and a new. I made some changes using an user report and it works with new DSX format. If you have old and new ds-x saves that would help me. Thank you

And I'm going to buy a new linker. I'm bored with DS-X. If somebody have any advices

The fact they implemented arm7 fix is promising, as it confirms that they are still working on rom compatability even if, for legal reasons, they prefer not to shout about it.

Sadly I think this may yet only be a swan song for dsx as the damage of the delay and lack of communication is surely too great to repair, but a very welcome "better than nothing" nontheless. Following up in the next few months with a feature enhancing update (improved speed, soft reset and RTS a bare minimum I'd say) might even give them a slim chance of saving this hapless project.

I would still like the dsx to be my main cart, managing it through usb without having to eject the card remains a great feature.

After arm7 fix requirement no longer needed, my main concern is about save reliability. So far your reports sound good, thanks for your testing. Anyway, if you come into save corruption & deletion, please report. A good test would be loading some "big" pokemon d/p save (with many stored pokemon) and use (save, load) it for a while, playing other games as well.

@Shuny

The only difference between saves from before and after FW 1.1.2 is that the EEPROM allocation size for saves was increased from 256 to 512 kbytes from that FW on. Hence when DS-X saves are uncompressed they are 256 kbytes or 512 kbytes depending on the FW version they come from.

This means that 1.0.2 and 1.1.0 users are not creating proper saves when playing games with 4 Mbit saves (512 kbytes) like Pokemon and Zelda. It doesn't matter for Pokemon, because its save contain 2 independent saves (256 +256, but they risk not saving the absolute latest progress). For Zelda their saves are useless, I think due to how both saves are offset within save (not exactly 256+256).

Yeah nevermind on the Zelda save then, since I was upgrading from 1.1.0 it must be inevitable the data is incompatible.

thanks go to jackkill for finding this :)

Because I believe in open source. firmware version 1.1.3 (skin 1.1.3 not included, maybe use version 1.1.2).
Ill try it now and edit the post. [ yop skin 1.1.2 works very well]
the news.ds-x.com still don't show this update but this download link work: http://update.ds-x.com/Ds_Xtreme_updater_v1.3.zip
in case its removed : ds-x firmware version 1.1.3 final.rar - 2.02MB
(this one include update.txt and update.bin)

well I believe the web site will be updated in the next hours  , anyway to be cautious is good too :D

I LOVE DS-X

PS: i didn't post this in the official forum because of my respect and love for the DS-X (creators, team, and devices  )i installed it too, works fine so far ;)
Why doesn't anyone update the DS-X page on the Scorpei wiki anymore? :/

All my savegames work, I don't know about the 512kb savegames since I play older roms. I'm also playing Professor Layton and It's all good.

The only problem I had was when I was transferring data from the PC. One file(rom) didn't transfer properly and I got I message error, something about not being able to tranfer the datas. After that, I looked at the files on the cart and they were all gone!! At that point, I crapped my pants! I ejected the cart and plugged it back in, everything was fine, the rom in question was there. I then put it in the DS and selected the rom, but it didn't play. I then erased it, copy it again, try once more and everything was back to normal. Phew! I think that the problem was the USB connection on the cart, something loose, had that problem before. I try not to move the cart around whenever I transfer datas.

Beside that, everything seems to be fine. I thought I would post this to see if anyone else had that problem. Also, I did a backup before upgrading, formatted the cart and then went ahead with it. Last time I upgraded without backup/formatting and all my savegames were lost, hope this help.

Too late 4 you DSX team i get another card.

Thanz for make me lost money and time patching games F..K u DSX team. i never buy another thing of you.

After having firmware 1.0.2 on my DS-X for a while I "risked" it and tried the Firmware 1.1.3 provided here in the forum and at least until know it's working perfectly. I just tried two new games now (Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Apollo Justice) which worked without patching. All other games I had on the device before updating still work and load their saves.

And the menu is nearly as "fast" as in 1.0.2, so not as slow as in 1.1.2 (which I had on my DS-X before it bricked and I traded it).
