Hi guys
I got a month left for summer break and I really wanted to learn even just one programming language but I really dunno where to start.

So can i have some tips like what language to start with or where can i find some free online guides for programming?
Are there also recommended prerequisites before I start programming?

thanks

If python is what you want to do and you are starting from scratch then http://learnpythonthehardway.org/book/ is what I would suggest.

One month is not enough time to learn all of computing but you should be able to work your way through much of that and end up being able to make useful programs for yourself and others, mainly things that you would take ages to make a spreadsheet for, simple calculators for things, or things able to read documents and tweak them a bit rather than using regular expressions in notepad++ or something ( http://markantoniou.blogspot.co.uk/2008/06/notepad-how-to-use-regular-expressions.html ) and maybe get able to convert simple file formats to others or use libraries that already know how to do that. However that is probably 90% of programming for most programmers, and if not then much of the rest is doing that in the context of a larger program.
