I couldn't find anybody else talking about this, so I figured I'd make a thread. There's a subscription song pass that seems to be tied to a Nintendo Account that grants access to... like the rest of the game's song library? Any ideas how this might work with modded switches that stay offline?

It seems to just sit at "transmitting" infinitely
I want to look into this cause this game has a massive amount of songs - do you have a legit linked Nintendo Account when you try the pass or a fake one by Linkalo? Some games/apps will not work unless you have a linked account e.g. NSO emulators

Apparently you can play the base game in airplane mode, and whether you have a fake account or not it won't load otherwise.

Also apparently the song pass songs only get downloaded in game, assumedly after passing the account check "transmitting" screen.

Ugh this sounds like another Minecraft/Just Dance situation where there were no DLC NSPs at all and everything will held in save game. I guess someone has to dump their save then so others can gain access to the song pass content because after its downloaded you can play it offline.

You think it's stored in the save file? I'll see if I can get someone to dump and check
I have a feeling it might be stored in the save file as there is no listing for the monthly Taiko song pass on the Nintendo eShop website, similar to Minecraft which stores its DLC in the save file and also has no DLC eShop entry. However it appears Taiko has traditional DLC also that does show up in the eShop so you should just be able to install a DLC NSP to unlock those songs offline.

Dumping a save file with the song pass bought and songs downloaded as there's a prompt to download songs from the pass online would help see if this is the case, so yeah. Thanks for looking into getting someone to dump a save.

I'm assuming its gonna be the same problem as with Switch Sports? Had to get a shared save file to unlock all the stuff for that one too

I'm not trying to ask the community to answer my question, I wanted to make a general hacking thread for the game itself, since one didn't exist already. I fully intend to contribute to the research.

Even if I did want to, I don't know how to edit the tread title.

If we figure out the save data structure for this game this might also help the first Taiko game on Switch as it has ~20 songs that have been locked behind playing online each month.

For Rhythm Festival it appears the game is running on Unity as there's a whole bunch of Unity assets in the RomFS. If anyone knows if there's a Unity save data standard structure that would help immensely with save editing something I have no experience with.

EDIT: The save file for Rhythm Festival appears to be encrypted

So the save file, MySaveFile actually consists of 4 separate files, each of which are XOR encoded differently you can find the end of each file by looking for "Encr" in plain text using a Hex Editor, split the files and from there you can use a tool like the Simple XOR decoder in the Modding discord to decode the file.
Haven't done much poking and prodding into the files but the first of the four files contains a minified Json file amongst a lot of other hex crap containing song entries for all the Song Pass content. (Taking priority over the base game entries if they exist)

can you please share me the save? I'd really like to play the other songs but I can't make it work myself
