Hi there. I would like to ask if anybody was able to install mods for Kotor II on Switch. I would like to install a custom language for which is necessary to overwrite the dialog.tlk file. I was able to do this with LayeredFS with Kotor I but was not able to do it with Kotor II. Is there any trick to get it to work?

Hi,

i made it work with animations and visualeffect 2da files. I created amtosphere>contents>0100B2C016252000>romfs>override folders and put the 2 files there. So, try putting that file there and try again.

havn't tried the game but I assume it uses the same layout as Neverwinter Nights and the first Kotor. you typically have to start a new game for files to work as well

not necessarily, i installed my mods hours in the game and they still worked. But this might depend on the kind of mod.

it does some mods will only half work if you install them in the middle of a game and some won't work at all. certain files will ONLY be registered when making a new game

There's a bug in this game that causes two ambient electronic noise wav files to progressively get louder and persist through menus and dialogue, I've attached a simple fix that replaces them with dummies and thus they never play.

Note this is *not* the same mod that's posted on the steam workshop with a similar name, for some reason that one replaces the files with short clicking sounds which fixes nothing.

It's such a shame that they canceled the restored content DLC, i really would have enjoyed a 2nd run. But not like this. And too bad we can't just use the mod on switch

Thats nice. When i used mods last time, i couldn't get TGA or any other image mods to work. Did you manage to get around that too?
From Jacqylfrost over at deadlystream:

"Move textures (.tga, .txi and .tpc) to override/Textures or they won't apply. NOTE: Aspyr included upscaled textures with this version that are not in other releases of the game. As far as I can tell, they are all in the format the original textures were in, by and large, that means they are in .tpc format, which trumps .tga and .txi files of the same name. If you have issues with a mod's textures not applying, try converting them to .tpc with Xoreos-Tools. You can download my texture reversion mods for K1 and K2 on Switch if you want to see what files are in what format."
Post automatically merged:

Posting the TSLRCM dialog.tlk file adjusted for the Switch for anyone who wants to try things out before I update my thread. Follow the instructions on https://deadlystream.com/files/file/2106-kotor-ii-switch-modding-framework/ for installing TSLRCM and at the very end, after everything is installed, manually replace your dialog.tlk file with this one.

Again I will probably post better instructions/automation in the future, but in case I forget or drop dead, or if you know what you're doing well enough, have at it.
