Homebrew Sonic 1 Game gear remake question

Just downloaded via tinfoil the Sonic 1 game gear remake. The creators did a great job with it but I’m confused how to create a save state. Anyone know the command for this? Here’s two screens caps Incase anyone needs clarification on what version I’m talking about. Thanks.

I could be wrong but I don't think there are save states, the game saves at the end of a zone IIRC (so after each boss act).
