I guess I'll be switching from Pro to Enterprise then... I just hate that Enterprise doesn't give you feature updates as soon.

I AM A FREE MAN, FOR SECURITY REASONS, I DON'T WANT A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT FOR MY OS, this must be "only" an option if you want. IF MICROSOFT FORCES ME, I WILL MIGRATE TO FREEBSD OR LINUX, so many people will go, first the chinese and russian, then EUROPEANS, too bad for them.....Microsoft OS will be only used by North america in 20 years if they continue that way!!!

Now Europe and other countries are beginning to think to buy Petrol Elsewhere because of their reputation.

While I do have a Microsoft account (when it was still called "Hotmail"), I do not want it linked with an OS. However, Microsoft is forcing users if they want to use 11 in the near future.
You know, when Windows 11 was announced I was interested (although somewhat annoyed as I remember they said W10 would be the final and be updated whenever needed), but after seeing the UI, restrictions, and this bullshit, I now have zero intentions of moving to W11.
I am not concerned about this, as there will always be a workaround for this especially for fresh install instances, multi-install instances and service install instances. Plus most people can't even remember their account information most of the time.
Let's not forget the last time someone in MS tried to push an all online all the time service and ignoring those who don't have access to that, that guy got shitcanned for making a very clear PR disaster.
Chances are if this gets implemented in any way it will probably be for limited scope users (I.E. S-mode or Home users) as Pro and higher will not apply to this metric for a multitude of reasons. Most small scale businesses don't even have the needs for scalability to need volume licensing in Enterprise and would cause as much of a shit storm in the small business/system sector as Windows 8 and ME did.
Finally, again even if the above is true for that limited scope, there will probably be workarounds available, because hell they could not even keep the restrictions of 11's upgrade true. Its all an overreaction of something that would hurt them more than their users.
He means the "Year of the Linux Desktop is finally near" rhetoric. Something that *nix users and fans have been talking high on their horse of since the 80's. It never happens though, and no matter the bullshit that does happen, it will still not overtake the market. This is unfortunately true, and I know this as well. The only hope outside of this is something along the lines of ReactOS actually becoming stable enough for wide end deployment, but this is also a pipe dream at the moment.
Education edition is basically an in-between of Pro and Enterprise, best of all it does not need access to a volume license and if you have access to a student/edu email you can probably get an Education edition key for nothing since MS and other software companies give hefty discounts for students and teachers/employees.
I use Education because I have full control of my updates and it also has the least amount of telementry in the system (which can be set even lower if desired) since this is made for students in mind. Outside of this it works on the same scale as Pro and does recieve updates as often but now I get to choose to update rather than have it be forced on me.
I use activation scripts, but thanks anyway. I've never paid for a windows license in my life.
Might not be so bad if Enterprise also lets you have more control over automatic updates getting pushed (without needing a domain controller server to disable it). Sometime last year my Win10 computer spontaneously rebooted due to an update. It’s possible there was a dialog that popped up and I was hitting enter right as it arrived or something but I was a bit outraged that Windows still hasn’t gotten better about user control over updates since like XP.
But yeah I’m not opposed to less frequent updates if it means no required M$ account
I guess I'm going with Windows 11 Enterprise when I eventually upgrade. There's no way they'll force a Microsoft account on that.
Preferably, I'd go with Enterprise LTSC though I lost all hope with M$ making a good, noninvasive version of 11.
Is it too much to ask for a traditional OS without bloatware and spyware? No.
same here and even more for 3 more computer for friends and familly with a neat little trick that was downloading windows 7 made for people with special needs , it generated a key based on your spec and once you logged in with your microsoft account it was official and you can upgrade up to 11.i still have my hotmail and now i just have to logg in to get a verified windows pc . i think its neat .I have finally found my brother!
edit: if you can find the files for it it is still doable . you can create infinite "key" linked to accounts
Misleading title. It would only be required for a new install and then you can just select business or school to bypass it. Not to mention, I hope anyone complaining about MS doesn't have an Xbox. Or an Android device for that matter, with a Google accout. Or uses Chrome. Or any other account anywhere else online for that matter. Or a bank account, debit or credit card. Amazon account. Netflix. Facebook. Twitter. Etc. etc.
Home has the requirement, excluding any workarounds, the change is that it now applies to pro.
Isn't the Home requirement already workaround by just running Win11 setup without any internet ? Then Pro should also be like that.
EDIT: after some research, it looks like you can switch your home Microsoft Account back to local after the setup, yeah it's a tricky process to play users that way, but again, if you are the kind of person who REALLY don't want ot use a Microsoft Account, you can optout after, looks like again it's a non problem but yes it's in a really grey area.

I’ve heard MS may be clamping down on that or at the very least making it more difficult.
Looking around, there are guides suggesting things like the command prompt, force closing processes, etc. So I can imagine MS continuing down this path of increased difficulty in future builds.
I edited that you can switch to local AFTER you make an inital setup with an MS account, so no, Microsoft still let people use it without, they just hard trying to filter more people in, shaddy, but it's in their interest to give the full Windows 11 experience to normal users with the store and all that stuff.
I'll wait for NTLite to implement a fix. Afterall, automatic deployment would be useless if forced to make an online account.
