Forza Motorsport 7 to be delisted on September 15, 2021

Forza Motorsport 7
, the 2017 entry in Microsoft's landmark racing series, will no longer be available for purchase or available on Game Pass as of September 15, 2021. As is standard for delisted games, players who have already purchased it will still be able to redownload it, and online services will still function. To support the title at the end of its life cycle, Forza Motorsport 7 is currently 75% off on the Microsoft Store. Additionally, while it will no longer be available on Game Pass, anyone who played on Game Pass and purchased DLC for it will receive a token to add it to their game library.

According to a Tweet from the official Forza Motorsport Twitter account, Forza games usually need to be delisted after four years due to the third-party licensing deals on real-world vehicles and raceways that begin to expire. Forza Motorsport 6 was delisted in 2019 after its 2015 release, and Forza Horizon 3 was delisted in 2020 after its 2016 release. The reason Motorsport 7's delisting is different, however, is that the Forza series usually releases on a biennial schedule; even-numbered years would feature a Motorsport game from Turn 10 Studios, which focuses on track-racing events, and odd-numbered years had a Horizon game from Playground Games, which tended to be more open-world. However, no Forza titles were released in 2019 or 2020, meaning that as of now there is no Motorsport title replacing 7 for sale. While an eighth Forza Motorsport has been announced, it has no confirmed release date, and Forza Horizon 5 won't be releasing until November 5, 2021. Forza Horizon 4, released in 2018, is still available for purchase.

you get a gimped version doing that

No, you can still get access to all of the downloads and updates. And if/when those stop being hosted in the future, then you can still download it to self host, without having paid nothing to the developers.

People do what they like, I don’t much care, I’m just pointing out that pirating isn’t the “only” option. I’ve managed it for 40 odd years, so it must be possible.

AND......

This is why I buy physical games because of stuff like this. I just hope I can get a discount on the DLC but this is ridiculous. I'm happy I physically own most of my Xbox games and dropped game pass long ago. Nothing wrong with gamepass but the delisting games was a no go for me.

Sony did this with GT5 and GT6 (completely removed all downloads, online features, DLC). GT5 discs are a dime a dozen, but I haven’t been able to find a copy of GT6 anywhere (there are a few online, but not for a reasonable price considering the many defects that game had, plus the fact that you can’t access half the content anymore)

I think this applies to new people and not old people. You can keep all your DLC and etc..etc.. if you owned the game prior but for a new person you can’t experience the older games.

Which I think it’s bad for racing games

Or buy it on disc perhaps?

The game is also on PC and there is no such thing there.

I already bought it though, but missed out on Forza Horizon 3 and it can't be pirated on latest Windows 10. So I just live without that game.

Doesn't matter if you buy the disc at this point. No version of forza be it motorsport or horizon almost never gets rereleased with all the dlc on the disc for the most part. Usually just the game with a dlc code. That's why games with dlc and update patches need a rerelease when support is officially done.

I'd rather have cheesy knockoff brand cars if it means a game isn't stripped of its content a few years after its release

Probably end up on Gold next month then. Quite funny that you can't buy a single Forza Motorsport new after that for what will probably end up being at least 12 months...
#7 was the best of a rather bad bunch though (the bunch in this case being the One versions 5-7, as 3 and 4 on the 360 were excellent!), so a bit of a shame to see it go, perhaps.. Safe to say Horizon overshadowed Motorsport by a huge margin last gen.

False for GT6, the game is a bit grindier now but it is much more "offline friendly" now than Gran Turismo 5.
The issue is that the single player campaign is a bit short and it relied on seasonal events to compensate for that, but it is nowhere near GT5 which had cars necessary for certain events that you had to borrow or purchase from another player and since GT5 is not around anymore, the only way to access these events is if you are lucky to make them appear on Used Car Dealership (UCD is a shop that sells cars randomly) or mod the save file.

Probably end up on Gold next month then.
I wouldnt count on that, on the last year, Horizon 3 was not offered as gwg and those who were hoping it would were screwed and I think Microsoft doesnt care at all about Live Gold.

I've wanted to play something similar to Daytona USA - and arcade racing games like it - for quite some time, but none of the games I've tried so far have satisfied that itch; would this near-EoL game be a good choice?
