Hello everyone:

I have a wii u with haxchi (not CBHC) on firmware 5.5.5 that I use for emulation mainly. Is it safe to access and buy games from the eShop? I would like to get some VC titles but I don't know if its safe to buy with haxchi installed.

as of recently, i got my wii u and the eshop still works, but not sure for how long tho,
if the wii u ehsop goes offline, will your purchased content be unavailable? will my existing ds game that is now haxchi/cbhc
still be on my system or will it disappear?

No when the eshop closes you will still be able to download anything bought before the closure as is the case with DSI and Wii. It would also be illegal for Nintendo to remove your eshop purchases from your console. And how would that even work anyway all you would have to do is remove the internet connection from the WiiU before the closure then they would have no way to delete the games.

oh, okay cool i see.
so since the game is on my system, i'm safe even if nintendo closes the eshop, nice.
yeah, that's one way to be 100% safe, you'll still be in homebrew mode, by removing the internet connection :)
thanx for the info, amanda :)
i hadn't thought of removing the internt info to be totally safe,
thanx for the tip :)
shame that the wii u doesn't have a flip wifi switch like on 3ds.

but, if i leave my internt connetion active, even if the eshop is gone, i won't lose my homebrew entrypoint?

i wonder if nintendo will update the wii u past 5.5.5? or is 5.5.5 the final wii u os update (i hope it is). lol

You won't even need Haxchi/CBHC once Aroma is released. Its already in (private) beta so its shouldn't be much longer, hopefully.

I think aroma might be in beta testing. I only heard about it a week or two ago. I don't know what it is exactly at this point.

Aroma is the shiny new homebrew environment that Maschell has been working on for quite some time. Its suppose to be a clean env without all the weird janky shit. The WUPS plugin system is integrated as well. It utilizes the FailST vulnerability that was also discovered by Maschell and can be injected into a system app, such as the Health & Safety app. Then system.xml can be modified to boot the injected system app for "CBHC like" behavior

if the eshop stops working, will apps that can get content from CDN also stop working aswell?
like Nus Spill or Wii U USB helper?
Yes and no. The content will be downloadable, but the ticket won't be. That's how it is with the wii after the shop's closing. Legit users can still download their games, just can't buy any new ones.
