Hi,
I am trying to install some newer NSPs/XCIs (Pikmin 3/Animal Crossing), but Tinfoil keeps telling me "Falied to read NSP metdata".

My setup is pretty old and I am unsure what I did/installed a few years ago. Looking at the settings and hbmenu shows:
- Switch version 8.0.1|AMS 0.10.5|S
- hbmenu v3.2.0 (nx-hbloader v2.3.0)
- Tinfoil v1.57
- Goldleaf v0.5

I also tried to install NSPs via Goldleaf (never tried that before):
Error 0x236e02 - Invalid PFS0 (NSP) (4535)

I assume I have to update my switch/tools? Can you tell me in what order (and how) I need to install what?

Pikmin needs firmware 10 and AnimalCrossing runs on firmware 9.
I always follow the guides on sdguide and that still works fine.
I always first upgrade my CFW to check that everything works.
Then I update my firmware with ChoiDuJourNX.
But there might be easier ways to do it.
Maybe someone could give a good suggestion.

If games stop working, you got the wrong or old sigpatches.
In the process, make a backup of your SD card and NAND.

Your firmware needs to be updated in order to play newer games. There is no way to bypass this. You can use homebrew applications like ChoiDujourNX or Daybreak to update your firmware. Patches also need to be updated when your firmware and/or CFW updates which can be found here.As for installing .NSP files, Goldleaf is arguably the worst title installer so I recommend switching to TinWoo Installer instead.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
