well the reason i use exfat is because most of my games are over 4gb and i cant put those files on the Fat32 can i follow the guide above if i stay exfat or is there a way to put the bigger games on a fat32
Yes you can follow the guide and choose exfat if you like.
There are different ways to solve the issue with big games. Either split the nsp og xci file or install via network or USB. Most installers support that.

Question, cleaning up my SD card and I've got two folders. emuMMC(~95GB) and Nintendo(~45GB) folders. I imagine I need to leave both of them alone, but inside the emuMMC is a separate Nintendo folder (\emuMMC\RAW1\Nintendo).

Realizing as I type this that I'm probably right, but is the \Nintendo\ folder from sysMMC and \emuMMC\RAW1\Nintendo from the emuMMC?

\Nintendo\ is sysnand, the other one is your emunand

Dont use exfat, install via usb or network instead of from the sd. Its faster and doesnt risk ruining your setup.

  1. As long as the updates you are downloading using this feature were obtained legitimately, there should be no issue
  2. If by "stock clean NAND", you mean the sysMMC then the answer is yes if you have never run any CFW or homebrew on sysMMC otherwise the answer is no because you would risk getting banned in that case
  3. There is always a risk of getting banned when going online with a hacked console

I got the game updates legitimately.
Will something happens if my Nintendo account has two primary consoles that communicate with each other such as sharing game updates or local play?
Also, Smash Bros. Ultimate "Match Version with Local Users" option is greyed out on emuNAND while it's not on my unhacked Switch... was able to update other games after deregistering my unhacked Switch.

Er... I did run CFW on my sysNAND but only to dumped my save files. I had "0 serial number" and was offline... of course. Though 3 months later I'm still able to connect to eShop so hopefully I'm good.
Next time if I do this, is there a way to dump or export save files on sysNAND from CFW running on emuNAND?

And I saw a lot of Animal Crossing New Horizons streams with the Treasure Island crap where they invite viewers to their island to get pretty much everything from the game and then used CFW to export the save to bring back everything that was taken from previous viewers just so the next set viewers can take what was taken. How are they not banned?

It's most likely because you are using a partition based EmuMMC. That can't just be copied to the new sd card.

Another thing you should not use exfat. It has a bigger risk to be corrupted. Fat32 is recommended.

So after following the guide at step 14 I get error (4) file not found for both BOOT0 and BOOT1 same thing with rawnand.bin.00

  • Sharing local game updates require a local connection and not an Internet connection therefore it shouldn't be an issue for your Nintendo Account
  • The amount of time that has passed is irrelevant because bans can happen at any time without warning. There have been people banned even after a year of hacking. There is also no way to move save files from sysMMC to emuMMC or vice versa because the whole purpose is for emuMMC and sysMMC to be separate
  • Bans are random in multiple ways. As explained above, the timing for bans can range from hours up to years. Bans are also randomly distributed so not everyone gets banned for the same reason

You hold the volume + and - buttons when booting either CFW or OFW from Hekate.
Thanks for the info. Got a few follow up questions:
I only have one attempt to do this, right?
When an update is ready, does the Switch update automatically on reboot?
Should I have the jig in place just in case something fails?

Hi guys, I just hacked my switch and I just finished creating the emuMMC as indicated by the switch homebrew guide page. However, as I don't understand much of the technicalities, I have two questions.
  • What exactly is an emuMMC? Is it a direct copy of the OFW of the Switch in order to keep the OFW "clean" and use this copy for whatever I'd like?
  • With the emuMMC created, is it possible/safe to go online in the OFW while doing some piracy (like, installing NSPs)? Like, removing the SD card and booting it as normal.
Thanks for the support and sorry if these seem obvious but I don't understand most of these concepts.

1. It can be used for many purposes, although thats one of the more common. In the past, with systems like the 3ds, emunand was used more often as brick protection because 3ds was harder to unbrick and harder to get banned on.
2. Dont confuse the terms ofw with sysnand (sysmmc), ofw just means youre not running atmosphere. Sysnand is the opposite of emunand. But yes, you can install nsps on the emunand (offline or online while using exosphere/dns.mitm/incognito to block nintendo) while keeping the sysnand clean for online play.

Thanks for the explanation!

So basically, If I understood everything, I can do the following:

For emuMMC:
  • Launch CFW (emuMMC) on Hekate
  • Use a protection method (like you mentioned, either offline or online with incognito)
  • Install a certain NSP
  • Use the modded switch without ever going being traced by Nintendo
For sysNAND:
  • Launch Stock on Hekate
  • Play online without issues any legal cartridge game
Is this correct? Sorry for the questions, I just want to get everything understood before doing something dumb.

Yes, as long as you have online protection to block nintendo in emunand as you stated, youll be fine. Just dont confuse the cfw and ofw with emunand and sysnand. You can use cfw on sysnand or emunand. Its common to use them interchangeably, but it leads to confusion.

Ah, so YOU CAN use Atmosphere with the sysNAND and not being banned, just as long as you don't stain the sysNAND by doing any kind of piracy with Atmosphere, which is what you would use the emuNAND for. I think I understood everything!

Thanks a lot for the help!

Did you move the files to the restore folder (step 10)?
Also remember to set SD EmuMMC Raw Partition to ON (step 13). This is VERY important. Otherwise you will overwrite your SysMMC.

Well you have one attempt in that sense if you fail to boot into maintenance mode, you can just turn off the console and try again. So in reality, its infinite attempts provided you reboot the console and don't install the update. Jigs are only meant for entering RCM.

Hello guys! Need help here lol

I used SXOS for a long time, until now. I updated to 11.0.1 and SXOS doesn't work anymore. So I tried to use Atmosphére.
However, now every game that I try to start keeps giving me a error "Unable to start software. Return to the HOME Menu an try again."

And if I connect my Wifi, it keeps saying that I must update to the last firmware (I won´t).

Anyone can save me? Thanks!

Unlike SX OS, Atmosphere needs patches in order to run backups. But the patches are extremely easy to come by. However there are 2 sets of patches which differ depending on which bootloader you use to launch Atmosphere. I believe this thread contains both.

Hi just bought Atmos old switch.
Bought a banned one because cheaper and only focus on single player game.

Small question here:
What happened that makes you guys need to restore your Sysnand backups?
How many times do you need to restore them, in your lifetime playing switch.
