OK, here is the situation.

Background: I have RCMLoader with Hakate. From that I boot into Atmosphere. I do NOT have autoRCM enabled. Normally I just try my very best never to let the switch die, and if I do, then I simply reboot into atmosphere via hekate on my RCMloader. My Switch would not charge, tried everything, so I sent it to a place in my Province that specializes in video game system repairs. They tried to replace the charging port.. no luck, so they replaced the two mother board chips responsible for charging.

My switch arrived back today, and it works perfectly, the normal legal way.

The only thing that is different is that I cannot get RCM loader to work. I power down, insert the jig, then (two different strategies):
1) have tried volume + and power, then insert RCMloader
2) have tried insert RCMloader then volume+ and power

Neither results in anything. Normally the RCMloader will power on and inject the payload. Now nothing happens.

To try to resolve things further, I tried the payload website via chrome, and it does not detect my switch.

My RMC loader is fully charged, and when I press the +button, it flashes blue (Hekate). I have also tried all the other payloads on the device. It's like the switch doesn't detect or power it.

I also tried pulling the pins on the jig out a bit, in case they are not connecting, also no go.

I ordered a new RCMloader and Jig already and am praying that fixes it.

Here is my question..... Did something about the repair make it so I can no longer boot into RCM? If my switch is working perfectly normal, aside from this.. is it my gear (RCM loader or Jig).

Thank you in advance for any advice or guidance you can offer me. I have been a long time reader of GBAtemp, but have never posted.

Well, it could also be the repair shop replacing your Switch without telling you and sending you a patched Switch. Have you checked if the serial displayed in HOS matches the one on the outside shell?

Edit: and are you sure it's your original Switch serial number?

I used to work in a repair shop and sometimes if we couldn’t repair something we’d swap it out, my boss used to say

“They came in with a problem, let’s give them a solution” which I disagreed with often because we were fixing 5 year old iPads for $200 when Amazon often has new gen iPad base model for 249...

I will check thank you. The only reason I opted for a repair rather than replacement was because I don't want a patched switch.

Update (sorry for the delay had a very busy day): it is the same serial number, so it is NOT patched.

So can I assume my problem is not related to the repair?

No. Are you sure that the console is entering RCM?

Another update. After lots of reading and experimenting, I am actually quite sure it IS entering RCM, as I need to hold power for 12 seconds to get it to boot into OFW after using the jig. I now believe the issue is that it won't take a payload.

My RCM loader wont power on when it's in RCM. I have also tried Rekada on my phone and the Chrome website, neither of which detect the switch when it's in RCM mode.

The RCM loader does turn white when it's plugged in and I boot OFW, which leads me to believe it still works. I think the issue is the switch itself. And somehow related to the repair.

It's really sad, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to show photos of the motherboard, because I don't see any thing else that can be done apart from constantly plugging in the jig, loader, etc. Also what happens when you try inject hekate, or biskeydump, lockpick payload?

Have you tried using other cables or USB ports?

If your think it is entering rcm, I suggest to use tegra
instead of ordering a new dongle & then download the correct drivers and make sure your computer detects an rcm ready console. Afterwards simply try and inject a payload, any errors produced can then be broken down & you can try to get a better idea of the problem.
