Yes, you will be running Atmosphere EmuNAND.
I would recommend Awoo Installer and Tinfoil.

Thanks.

I must have done something wrong at some point - or my Switch is working property.

Running Atmosphere in emuNAND, if I hold down the R button and open the Album then the actual Album app starts. If I just open the Album normally then I get the homebrew menu but in "applet mode". Isn't holding the R button meant to open in homebrew menu in full mode ?

You need to hold R while opening an app to start it on non-applet mode.

Hmm - that just loads the app. Very odd.

Mind you I am pretty sure to Switch altogether - maybe it's not recognising the joycons properly. Just tried installing my first backup and the character doesn't move unless the joycons are unattached from the console. Maybe it's that ?

UPDATE: Looks like the right joycon is not being recognised when connected to the console - I'm sure I read how to fix that somewhere and how it was a known issue with the tin foil method ? But for the live of me I can remember where I read it (and more importantly the fix)

UPDATE 2: Maybe it is just a little tempremental. It actually works when connected to the console, it just doesn't show up on the screen as being connected

My turn to be a complete Switch Noob. I have a question about game update files. No matter which game it is, do I need to keep all update versions or just the most recent?

My Switch has been sitting on the shelf at v3.0 for a few years going unused since purchase, so I have not gotten into modding it yet, but I do have an RCM Loader for when I get around to playing with this or will follow the latest greatest guide when the time comes.

With all the game title updates, like NBA 2k20 or 2k21, do I need to keep all of the update versions? Such as Upd v1.04, Upd v1.05, Upd v1.06? In most cases they take up over 20gigs of drive space for each update. Are the updates cumulative in which I only need to update the game with and keep the latest version #? Can I delete the previous ones because they are really not needed? I see a lot of disk space being taken up for each of these updates that I'd like to delete if not needed?

From what I have read they are not cumulative in that you have to apply all the updates.

This is where GCS's Awoo Installer and Tinfoil recommendation comes in handy - as it lets you install over a wired/wi-fi connection so you don't have to save any file to the SD card :)

The most recent is fine as the updates are cumulative.

An app in this case is a game or something that isn't the album

Yeah, I know.

Something odd is going on - if I hold down R, an app just loads normally when I press the A button and the album goes into the normal album. If I don't hold down R then the album goes into the homebrew menu

It's no big issue - yet - as everything I want to do off the homebrew menu has worked in applet mode so far

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The most recent is fine as the updates are cumulative.

That kind of makes sense but on the other hand doesn't.

What if a game has had 3 updates and the 2nd one was 3GB in size but the latest one is only 20MB [ and there plenty of examples of this ] ? How can the latest update include all the changes from the 2nd one ?

Thank you for the quick answer!! Between all the NBA and Mortal Combat updates my available drive space has been shrinking faster than I would like.

** New question relating to the file naming scheme that you might also be able to answer for me. Can I rename the xci & nsp files to whatever I would like without causing any problems when it comes time to install them?

I notice some files match the game name and others look random, something like "aabbbbd rrwe.nsp". As long as I keep the .nsp or .xci file extension am I ok to rename them the to actual game title? A completely random example would be taking "aabbbbd rrwe.nsp" and renaming it to "Steel Dawn.nsp"?

hi I've been having some trouble hacking my switch... first I am curious if my switch in rcm mode will support a usb 1.0 port because I don't think it does. i have tried to hack my switch on an old and new computer on my new one the drivers installed and tegrarcmgui detected my switch but every time I would send the payload it wouldn't respond so I tried tegrarcmsmash but that wouldn't even boot up it would crash the first second I boot it up also the drivers don't work anymore I tried zidag, libusbk, and even the driver built in the app, the one in the app would say it successfully installed but it didn't because it took a split second to install and my computer still wouldn't read my switch so i tried to go on my old computer... no luck there tegrarcmsmash would crash at boot and all that computer has is usb 1.0 and tegrarcmgui wont read it as well as my computer even though this time the driver took longer to install so it seems right i don't even know if it is the drivers or the usb port is too old i was thinking if someone could put a Mediafire, google drive, mega or any file transfer link for a Nintendo switch driver pack instead of an installer so i can install it with my device manager and if that works hopefully tegrarcmgui will read my switch and not freeze every time i send a payload...

please help

Hi,

I need some help moving my files from a micro sd card thats formatted in ExFat to another micro sd card thats formatted in FAT32. After doing some research this is what i did.

1) put new sd in pc and formatted it into fat 32
2) put old sd card in pc and backed up the entire card
3) copied over all the files that i backed up into the new card

However i ran into some corruption problems with a majority of my games. When i put the old sd card in the games work fine, but they're "corrupted" when i put in the new sd with the same files.

couple things to note,

* i run my games primarily through nsps downloaded using goldtree through usb.
*the sd cards sizes are 256 and 512 respectively
*homebrew works fine
* i use atmosphere/kosmos

Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you.

Yes you can name the file to whatever you want as long as you can remember what each file is.

Does the new card have the patches from this thread?

Curse you tinfoil method .. closer inspection of the right hand side of the console I could see a very small glint of something on the furthest pin. About 5 minutes later having successfully removed a tiny piece of tin foil (left over from the improvised jig) my right joy con now make the re-assuring click noise when reattached :yayswitch:
