Boop is really iffy, I managed to install OoT with 2.0 with a lot of fiddling and restarting both Boop and Fbi, and now I managed to install Pokemon X with 1.4, since 2.0 refused to work any further with the fiddleing.

Is there anything like Boop except it doesn't need to go through the network but instead connects the PC/laptop directly to the 3DS wirelessly? Through something like an access point made by the PC/laptop?
wifi direct? I don't think so. If you don't have a router you might connect both PC and 3DS with your phone tethering

I believe that would be the sd card manager within the 3ds system settings that does that.

Gonna try this. I want the transfer to basically be the ONLY thing going through the network to maximize transfer speeds. I keep getting time out for some reason, it's like the transfer speed spikes really high and then gradually slows to a crawl over time until it stops completely, and I have no idea what's wrong.

Its either bottlenecked by your pc speeds or the 3ds speeds. If its cias your trying to install. Look at https://gbatemp.net/threads/custom-...a-nintendo-3ds-sd-card-entirely-on-pc.551496/ to skip over the need of using FBI and its speeds to install

The instructions require a lot of very specific fiddling of files that I no longer remember how to deal with. Short version is it's too much of a hassle to setup.

I guess I'll stick to Boop. But that request time out from FBI really kills me. It's a 1.5gb file, so it shouldn't really be that hard to transfer...

3ds wifi chip is slow as ass, it hard to bottleneck it by any router made in this century

With godmode9 you get boot9.bin and movable.sed from your console (if you plan to do it with another you must get the files from that console, they are unique), using a search engine (google for example) you can get the seeddb.bin. It really seems very lazy (which is simple) when with that app you go from 1MB/s (or less...) to the full speed of your card when it comes to installing the game. Enjoy.

I suppose I'm just not as invested in doing all of that as I was before. I'm kind of going back to the 3DS after not touching it for more than a year, and it's still on Luma that doesn't boot to the home screen but instead boots to Homebrew Menu where I have to launch Luma before it actually gets tot he N3DS home screen.

I don't even know where to pick up from there lol, and quite honestly, I don't really think I need to go as far as trying to fiddle with my N3DS again to where I might brick it or something. It runs games, that's all I need.

In any case, I finally managed to finish the transfer somehow. I dunno how, but suddenly it went 1Mbps consistently and I finished the transfer in around 20 ~ 30mins. So I guess that's that. It was Stella Glow btw lol.

I will test with my 3DS, I have been having problems removing and inserting the MicroSD, since it works with the Nintendo Switch too, is there any chance of working with the Wii U in the future?

[EDIT]
Do I need to install something on the 3DS ?, whenever I click on Boop it says it failed to connect to the console but I didn't see any .cia to download or anything like that.

The Switch OS is actually based on the 3DS one, the Wii U OS is completely original. Thus far installing Wii U titles over the network is not possible, there is no installer that supports installing over network, although it should in theory be possible. Wii U USB Helper Transfer Tool simply stores the received files on the SD and none of the other installers support any networking. Sadly the Wii U never had much interest from developers and there are none still working on it that I know of, they've all moved on to the Switch or other devices, so getting an installer capable of network installs seems unlikely at this point, and without that, Boop can't do much.

Boop works with FBI, which you should have installed as part of the guide you followed. I assume you've hacked your 3DS?

Got it, too bad, it would be interesting to see that on Wii U. Anyway, I went looking for it afterwards and had discovered that I needed the FBI, I'm already using it without any problems, but thanks for answering.

Additionally, the Wii U's wifi is slow and the games are big. That's why FreeShop never happened.

Actually, there is something similar to Freeshop called NUSspli, I think you may not have heard of it because it is a relatively new homebrew.

It works like Freeshop, downloads a Wii U game directly from the console to the USB / SD / NAND, I've been using it because I don't have a lot of space on the Wii U SD Card, so I can download it directly on the USB and install it right there it is extremely practical for me.
