*SOLVED* when I disassembled my Wii to clean it out. I out the ribbon connector backwards that connects to the DVD drive. I reopened the Wii and put the ribbon back in correctly. Now in USB loader GX I no longer get a black screen that eventually leads to the error message about ejecting the game disk

I recently got my modded Wii out of storage after many years of asking a family member. I modded my Wii back in 2010 and had everything working off my wd 1tb my book external HDD. Wii games along with homebrew apps were working flawlessly.
For the past two days, since I set the wii up, I have not been able to get my Wii games to run off my USB drive. It can see them, in USB loader gx, but after selecting the game, say Mario kart Wii, and clicking start, it hangs on a black screen for a minute or two, then gives this message
" error has occurred.
Press the Eject Button, remove the
Game Disc, and turn off the power to the
console. Please read the Wii Operations
Manual for further instructions."
My switch firmware is 4.2
I installed iOS 58 with iOS 58 installer
I updated my cios following the guide highly suggested wii.guide/cios html
Base 56 -> 249
Base 57 -> 250
Base 58 -> 251
I am currently on my way to work so I can't post syscheck results, but I'm certain of what those three are set to.
My HDD is split into two partitions.
A 80gb fat 32 partition for homebrew apps and stuff
800gb NTFS where all my wbfs games are stored.
I also used a small 8 GB flash drive (fat 32) and tried to load Mario kart Wii off it with the same black screen and error message.
