I have a wii and I can't even get to the system menu to check what version things are on. I have priiloader v0.7 on iOS 60 I think. I can get to homebrew channel but nothing is really there as you can see in the picture. I click system menu and nothing happens.

I just want to play some backups like Zelda, Smash Brothers etc off usb drive. What do I need to do? I can't even figure out where to start on this thing since I'm not sure how to get to system menu.

Can someone tell me (or better link me) to what to do in what order to get to a place to play USB games now? I found a game like Zelda.Nkit.iso

I can use modmii if I can figure out what version of stuff I'm on.

"Nothing" happens when you click System Menu? You just stay inside the Priiloader?
Or does it load to a black screen and/or display any error message in Priiloader?
The Homebrew Channel is probably empty because there are no apps on your SD card.

Morning,

It gives an error: “Error auto booting system menu. Could not open boot file!”

Something is really fucked up with your Wii.
Post a syscheck: https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

And you didn't actually post a screenshot of the main HBC screen where the apps show up so no we can't see that nothing is there :P
If that is all you see I have a feeling your home button is stuck.

What happens when you exit the homebrew channel and try to load the system menu that way?

Double check priiloader hacks. Believe it or not there is a hack to disable access to the system menu, it could have been toggled by accident or it could be an entirely unrelated error.

Lastly, I suggest you enable priiloader logging and repeat the error then share the log.

so from the homebrew channel it does the same thing as it does from the priimenu. It says it can’t load the boot file. There is no priilogging in the settings menu.

I suggest you reinstall the 4.1 system menu with a wad manager, DO NOT TURN OFF THE CONSOLE, exit to the homebrew channel, and reinstall priiloader (which would've been removed when you reinstalled the system menu). Once you can access your system menu you can proceed with the standard modmii wizard process.

Alternatively, if you need a more descriptive guide, start the modmii wizard, tell it you're on 4.0U (yes I realize you are really currently in 4.1U) and select 4.1 as your new firmware. When following your guide you can skip the exploit step and instead just launch the hackmii installer from your current homebrew channel installation. Again, after the install WADs step do not power down before reinstalling priiloader just in case your core problem is not resolved. This will have the same end result as my first suggestion but you don't need to worry about trying to find the 4.1 system menu wad and priiloader etc and this is less steps

Wow Flak you nailed it. Your instructions works perfect. I encountered one issue in the instructions that modmii generated: HomeBrew Browser isn’t available for download on that site or anywhere I could find.

will any usb loafers load *.nkit.iso ?
Thanks for your contribution and awesome program.

No, Wiis cannot load NKIT ISOs no matter what USB Loader you use, that functionality would need to be in the cIOS.

You need to convert NKIT images to WBFS or another supported format.
