So I fired up mom's PS1 2 days ago and tried a burned game, knowing it was modded, and it worked effortlessly. Now all of a sudden, I turn it back on to play the same game and it just won't play anything, not even the legit games I have. I tried cleaning the laser. Any tips? It's the later release PSOne, the smaller one.

Laser probably died, it's a common issue. You'll have to buy a new one off eBay. They're easy to replace.
