Minecraft's Nether update now has an official launch date

Minecraft is getting a sizable update soon, with the latest new content to involve the Nether. You'll be able to find Netherite Ingots, interact with the new mobs like the Piglins and Hoglins, mine new block types, explore never before seen biomes, or even listen to some of the new music tracks, all composed by Lena Raine, who previously did the soundtrack for Celeste. The Nether update will be launching for the Bedrock versions of the game on June 23rd, for mobile, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows 10, and Nintendo Switch, alongside the Java version, which supports Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

Get ready to fall into lava. Lots of lava! The Nether Update, Minecraft’s next big adventure, is launching June 23 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Windows 10, and more. The update will also be available on the Java version, and will roll out on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux during the same day.

If you’re like me – that is to say, totally terrified excited for the Nether and can’t wait to learn more about Minecraft’s lava-fueled sauna – then you should head over to the official Nether Update website. It’s a handy page with plenty of information about the new blocks, items, biomes, and threats awaiting you on the other side of the portal. Or maybe you prefer to dive into it with reckless abandon? That’s fine too, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Yet another major update and even 3D biome support. I'm excited and hope the 3D biomes get used in one of the next updates also in the overworld for a nice cave update. The new 3D biomes requiere more data to be send from the servers to the players so I assume this update also is meant as a testing case for a future cave update *happy*
And the new user specific spawnpoints in the nether make nether bases finally a useful option. And that they added a new tool tear that is lava burn resistente and... Just so much great new stuff *happy*
Have I mentioned all the new greyscale and dark color blocks for builders? Finally dark builds that don't suffer from all the details beeing lost in all-the-same-colourness.

Finally! Might have to spin up a gbatemp server once this is released so everyone can enjoy the update together

assuming that’s of any interest to anyone
I don't have any access to Java edition, so if you make a bedrock server/realm, I'd totally join!

holy shit 1.16 is gonna come out before optifine does for 1.15.2
I'm sure optifine 1.16 comes fairly short after the full optifine 1.15.2 release. Mojang changed alot about the rendering code in the 1.15.x releases which made alot of work for the optifine programmer.

Two more things they need to improve:

1) Underground, caves. It's so slow, boring, and repetitive, since the underground is practically identical in every biome, save for Emeralds generating in Extreme Hills. Maybe make Diamonds more likely in some biomes, Iron in others, Coal less likely in some? Add some more enchantments to speed up mining? Add more types of Stone, to add more variety, and allow them to be used to make anything normal Stone (or Cobblestone) can? I dunno.

2) Combat. Bring it back to 1.8 standards. Don't implement the Combat Test stuff - that is to say, don't weaken weapons or muck about with saturation and hunger. Make attackSpeed a goddamn Game Rule since those are now in a World Generation menu, last I checked. Not everyone likes or wants this slower, less engaging combat, Mojang; you know this. Fix what's broken; don't break it even more.
