So, apparently every wiiflow lite version after 5.2.0 is somewhat broken on wii u if you load wii games from the sd card. This is funny because i've always updated wiiflow and used it with gamecube games, now i'm playing some wii stuff with my family (life in quarantine :yaywii:) and even with the latest version i have some issues with it, because sometimes it loads games and sometimes it doesn't (blackscreen). Yesterday i saw a user on github describing exactly my issue, he fixed it by using 5.2.0 so i followed his advice. Everything works like it should, luckily wii u doesn't need the 480p pixel patch (if i'm wrong please correct me, i just haven't noticed any difference) because it wasn't available in 5.2.0. I cannot test other versions as i'm kind of busy with school right now, i will just share this here in case others have the same issue. Maybe there is something specific in the vwii which doesn't like some new features in wiiflow? I don't know, it's just that the few people i found online with this exact issue seems to be having it on a wii u.
Wii U issues aside, i love wiiflow lite and i really appreciate your work, i just throw the rhapsodii shima theme and the gamecube ambient music and i'm all set! I'm leaving my wii u to my family after the quarantine is over as they're enjoying playing wii u, wii and gamecube party games, now that i found the solution for the random blackscreens they're loving it.

have you tried 5.4.2?
5.4.3?
and 5.4.3 devkitppc r35 version?

one user with the sane issue as you reported that 5.4.2 works, see here - https://github.com/Fledge68/WiiFlow_Lite/issues/151#issuecomment-601455475

after 5.2.0 i made one simple change to sd code that i shuldn't have. i reverted it in 5.4.2.

don't let one black screen deter you. wiiflow, your wii u, or sd card might have just been having an off day. :)
also don't forget to try startup settings - set force cios on or off. try them both.

okay then, i'll reinstall 5.4.3 and let you know, if that doesn't work i'll try the devkit beta
edit: regular 5.4.3 doesn't work, i've tried changing the different settings
i'll try the devkit version later tonight
I should mention, these blackscreens happen if i exit a wii game and load another one (i don't even see the white progress bar) but when i boot the console again in the wii menu, if i go check the last game i played that game shows up. So the console knows i'm booting the game, but for some reason it goes to blackscreen in these versions. It's very odd, we'll see with the other version later

Okay we used the wii u tonight so i did try the devkit pro version, it has the same issue. So i reverted to 5.2.0 again and played a couple of games and we had no problem whatsoever. It's weird, i tried changing every setting on all versions but i had the same exact result. It might really just be the wii u is weird or something, i'm one of those users who got a blackscreen after launching the nintendont forwarder on wii u side while others could boot it up just fine, no idea what that's all about but it could be related to this? i don't know, they both have to do with vwii and blackscreens:unsure:

Hi there, I am wondering, would it be possible to add in functionality to display where wiiflow is scanning for files?

For example, the user scans Atari 2600, and it finds no data, or cover media, could it then display the directory location where it is looking?

The user can then note down the correct location, and eliminate mistakes in their setup.

I have no idea how difficult this would be, but it was an idea, as I am having a few hair-pulling issues as I work through trying to setup my Wii.

Thanks to everyone making this!, and continuing to work on it :D

One thing that seems very flaking is the downloading of covers. I was only trying to grab 8 of them and my Wii soft locked 3/4 times before it was able to successfully download them. Eventually it worked but my Wii would get stuck on the various steps.

Between the wiifow ini file and the plugins ini files everything should be there ? Maybe a shell script or quick java tool could do the job and produce a configuration file report for Wiiflow - If I find some time, I'll get to it :)

Using it more I noticed even more freezing. I decided to test the various versions on GitHub. I narrowed it down to ver v5.4.0+ having all of these issues. I rolled back to v5.2.0 and not only does everything load much faster, all covers downloaded without issue on first try. It looks like from the comments that 5.4.0 was a huge refactor. Unfortunately for me anyways it seems to have issues that cause my wii to constantly soft-lock when goring through the various menu's & options in Wii_Flow

Hey

I was trying to play a wii game off the sd card using wiiflow but the screen goes black and the disc drive starts to spin and the wii locks up. In my wiiflow settings I have wii path set to sd. What could the issue be?

****Note**** It works on my black Wii but not my White Wii

Thanks

The following download link is dead, any chance of a re-upload please?

"Wiimpathy's packages of rom snapshots and cart/disk images needed for game info screen and possibly in future displayed as mini banner for plugin rom games.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/4ncv79000codslq/Wiiflow_Snapshots.7z/file
Extract to dev:/wiiflow/snapshots"
I'm updating all the databases and adding a lot of images. It's taking much more time than I thought. I'll post updated links in a few days.

Does Wiiflow lite still work with Devolution? I downloaded the latest gc_devo yet whenever I select Devolution as the loader all I get is my front LED blinking 4 times and then a reboot. I confirmed that Devolution as a standalone app works fine. I also rolled back to regular WiiFlow v4.2.1 and Devolution also works fine though that. The issue seems to be with WiiFlow Lite unless I am missing some setting / requirement.

I'm sorry but Im just shaking my head and wondering why?

let me guess you can't get nintendont to work so you continue to use devolution.

basically devolution should still work. but then again i haven't used it in so long maybe it doesn't. the led blinking sounds like devo is trying to verify your backup and the disc in the drive or lack of disc causes devo to fail the antipiracy check. your old wiiflow works fine and devo itself works fine? that is odd.

I really recommend you switch to nintendont. unless someone else still uses devo?

I thought Devolution still had a higher compatibility then Nintendont, no? Nintendont works fine, I had previously used Devolution so that I could play PSO over wifi. A feature that at the time Nintendont lacked. I hear now it supports the same but since things are already all configured with Devolution I figured it would be easy to just use that. I saw the option in the menu so I assumed it still worked.

2 blinks means it can't verify a backup, 4 means it can't read the backup directory. It can however read my backups just fine when I use the old version of WiiFlow or launch it as a stand-alone app so it's something with WiiFlow Lite & Devolution.

I was hoping to test some of your older versions but saw they are no longer on Sourceforge. You don't by chance have them handy where I could sort of step back one build at a time and see do you?

my first thought - when you updated to wiiflow lite did you do a reload cache?
i'll look into this. maybe something is broke?
