Hi,
Lot's of (newer) games from HBG shop don't work after (fine) installation.
I've tried downloading the NSP manually and after USB install i get an error message 'title requires higher system firmware'.
I'm using tinfoil 8.1 with latest hbg shop.....what is wrong and how can i fix this?
Thanks.
MrZipper.

HI MushGuy, thanks, but i'm really an absolut newbie in hackworld, too risky for me :-)
Is there any other way?
Can i wait for a new tinfoil version and perhaps future versions will fix this issue?
I have never had this issue before, This problem occurs only in the last weeks and with the newer games.
Thanks.
MrZipper.

That's something that I don't think Tinfoil can solve. I also thought it would be too risky at first, but just follow the instructions, and you should be good to play the newer games. If you really are afraid of what might happen, I suggest you make a backup of your NAND beforehand.

Hi MushGuy,
Thanks, OK i might consider this manual upgrade as last resort option.
So my current swith version is 9.01 and i can't play any hbg shop games since march.
Can you tell me what is the tinfoil 'Ignore Soft Firmware Check' option for? I have it enabled.
Is there any other way to remove or to fool the current firmware for the downloaded games?
Perhaps there's some programm which can do this trick in tinfoil?

You can try to enable standard crypto to install the games to force the master key down, however there is a good chance this will not work and the games will not boot. The only real solution is to update your firmware.

Hello Blawar, indeed, i tried that already, then i see the game icon (instead of grey icon with loading circle) BUT the game won't start.
So this is something tinfoil absolutely can not fix in the future?

Games are built with certain SDKs or software development kits which give them inherent firmware requirements which can never be bypassed unless you somehow manage to obtain the game's source code and recompile them for lower firmware versions.

this isn’t quite right, there are games built with newer sdk’s that can run on older firmwares. But it’s close enough, people just need to update their firmware whenever possible.

Yeah, yeah, I know it depends on what functions they draw from the newer firmware versions but it gets the point across.

Hi,
So....OK, before i start upgrading manually i need you guys to help me out.
I use the RCM loader (model one B, payload.bin.loader) with SEPT (Atmosphere) to get into tinfoil, hbg shop.
I see some serious warnings in this guide https://switch.homebrew.guide/usingcfw/manualupgrade for example 'Never enable AutoRCM on an IPATCHED Switch'
What is this AutoRCM and how can i see if i have it enabled or not ?
Also this info is Chinese for me:
If you cannot run payloads from RCM with fusee-gelee, DO NOT ENABLE AUTORCM.
Failure to heed this warning will result in a bricked Switch.

If you could just guide me into this
Thanks.

if u have not a patched one,
then there is nothing to worry about update it with ChoiDujourNX with exfat, whether you use it or not

and be sure that u have a backup from all "full nand" i update manual since 5.*.* and i got never a problem.

RCM means that u have not to use a jig all the time only the "RCM loader" is needed to start CFW
mine Auto RCM is Active since release and i got never a Problem with.

If you're running CFW then you dont have an ipatched/patched switch. AUTORCM makes it so you dont have to use a jig to boot payloads.

Hi guys, thanks a lot for this info.
Can someone send me a guide or link how to do a full nand backup for my console (remember i have a rcm loader device).
I've seen some video's but those consoles had no rcm loader device, so not usefull for me i think.
Thanks a lot.

You should be able to replace the payload on your RCM loader with a Hekate payload, then use Hekate to backup.

Hi, thanks, but can you tell me how to do this step by step...sorry i'm an absolute newbie in this.:switch:
I shouldn't need to as it's very easy. I myself do not have an RCM loader, so it may not be exact, but you should go to the website of the RCM loader you bought as they will have instructions. I'd assume all you have to do is connect the RCM loader to a computer, then change the payload (where ever it may be) to the Hekate payload. Then to backup you can simply look up on youtube something along the lines of "How to back up switch with hekate" and follow along with the video.

Hi guys,
How do i get into the hekate bootmenu with a RCM loader device?
My payload on my RCM loader is HEKATE CTCAER 4.2.
So what i tried is:
- Injecting payload with RCM loader (so this is holding volume up and holding powerbutton)
- holding volume down (this should get me into the bootmenu, i've seen it on some youtube movie)
....but nothing happens, i only see the Atmosphere startup screen as usual....
Thanks.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.

Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
