So not sure if this is the right place but i had a theory. We all know that pc technically has the best emulators since we can use anything we want like 1964 for better n64 emulation etc. i've always like retroarch but without the ability to add my own emulators i tend to stay away from it. Now this is where launchbox comes in, launch box allows me to use any emulator i want and provide all the files associated with said emulator for smooth emulation. However this is using a pc! could this work on a nintendo switch?
Now that Launchbox has an android port im curious if anyone has tried or got this working on switch android it would be interesting to see what the possibilities are and if we could get dc/n64/ps2 working at full speed using this method

I know, but it's the closest thing you will get on switch. Unless you get the one on android.

There's also pfba.

There's nothing in the comments section about this using moonlight.

Iprobably. i could try it, but have other things to do before.
I'm jsut curious if using the emulators we would on pc via launchbox through android on a switch would give us better compatibility and framerates on the switch. theory crafting man

thats retropie not launchbox and pretty sure they stated they were using moonlight
They arent using moonlight. Its a hacked Nintendo Switch running L4T Ubuntu. Someone made a patch for Retropie to work on Jetson Nano which has the same specs as the switch

yes but it still doesnt perfectly emulate n64 ps2 and dc? im asking if it would if we tried launchbox with our own standalone emulators since launchbox allows you to use the exe's emulators you would on a pc. ofc this would take alot of setup but would be interesting to test. id do it myself but im unfamiliar with android on the switch i wouldn't even know where to begin

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

yes ik that but does it run n64,dc,and ps2 at full speed? for everygame? im asking if we were to use launch box to use the emulator we use on pc that can ie the exe's since launch box allows you to if the switch would be able to via launchbox but im unfamiliar with android on switch i wouldn't even know where to start

i can tell you ps2 are not going to happen but dreamcast, 64, and saturn will all work very well. Just posting some videos of saturn and dreamcast to give you an idea. Though I am
using stand alone emulators I am aware one can path to them in launchbox. Personally I like to just play games the interface is not a huge deal for me. I did toy with hyperspin in switch android and I can tell you that is another possible route. The huge advantage android has over horizon is saturn and dreamcast emulation quality (ds as well but melon ds latest is impressive) and Usb storage ability.

Any reasons on why do you want this over RetroArch? IMO RetroArch HOS port covers you pretty much everything you may want, also 1964 is windows-only afaik, but I would say Mupen64Plus Next is better for casual gaming anyway (from my experience), you barely need to tweak settings.

Tbh I prefer android/linux over anything else since I can play wii games and gamecube games as well. Maybe even N64 at a shitty fps but OP is also interested in ps2 and that barely runs well on high end flagship phones atm...

Yea you wont get ps2 to work on 2gbs of ram. It barely runs well on flagship phones with 8gbs+ of ram. If you want n64 and dc try the linux or android ports

Launchbox via Switchroot, also Arc Browser is a decent frontend for standalone emulators and they both incorporate Retroarch if required.
